COM-STAR is an NIHR funded research project in the UK, running March 2024 to February 2027. COM-STAR is for all members of the multidisciplinary team in stroke.
Today we've launched a new requirement that all applicants must demonstrate how their research will address existing inequalities in health and social care as a condition of funding. Applicants will now be required to show how inclusion is being built into all stages of the research lifecycle. https://t.co/765hxygjRD
I've only been working with the stroke community for a little over a year - each time, i'm struck by their passion, committment, and incredible dedication to supporting stroke survivors in their recovery. I want to start there because i think it would tell only half the story...
Had a reflective journey home from GIRFT stroke course, the value of peer support and friendship should never be underestimated my cup is very nearly full! A safe place is key to letting go and developing yourself and change fatigue is a real thing! @Deborah71247971@lisakidd22

Half of respondents worry about having another stroke. This can leave people feel exhausted physically and emotionally. Brain responds to threat and our beliefs that we are not safe.
Our Stroke Support Helpline is now even more accessible! 📞
Thanks to our recent partnership with SignVideo by Sorenson, every stroke survivor who is deaf or hard of hearing can contact our Stroke Support Helpine via video call, supported by a BSL interpreter. 📺
📢Thank you to the 511 #stroke staff across the UK who have shared their views on #communication skills training for the COM-STAR survey!📢📢📢📢
