Long overdue that DC taxes its highly concentrated wealth with a 3% Wealth Proceeds Tax.
No more "We don't have the resources to fund our safety net" "We can't help communities make ends meet in hard times" "Slash essential programs"

In Part 2 of our series, we explore why mental health care in #WashingtonDC remains out of reach for many young people—even when it's available.
Young people told us it's not just finding care. It's knowing where to go, how to access it, and staying connected.
In our survey,
📊 39% didn't know where to seek help
📊 65% wanted support but didn't receive it
Across our 5-part series, “Youth Mental Health in DC: Access, Barriers, and What Comes Next,” we’re examining what needs to change so young people can access care more easily and consistently.

This is a group of families, educators, providers & workers-- the backbone of #WashingtonDC’s economy. They deserve:
1. Affordable Child Care & fair wages for early educators
2. Paid Family & Medical Leave
3. Healthcare Access
@councilofdc, do the right thing and pass a budget that protects communities across the District.
Spoke with @charlesallen some after this: Seems there's not much appetite for Frumin's 3% across-the-board tax hike, but more for new taxes on investment income/second homes. Combined, that's $150M in new annual revenue.
Also sounds like the CFO is on board with Mendo's plans:

91% of #WashingtonDC parents are satisfied with summer programming, meaning when families can access it, #AfterschoolWorks. Affordability & transportation remain major barriers, which is why we need to expand OST for all. Read our blog and see @Afterschool4All's new survey results: https://t.co/IfYAkGoUkY

Hi from the Wilson building 👋🏼
Today we gathered with friends and partners to remind the DC council that housing is a human right, and they need to fund it! We need to invest in our communities, and make sure that the #FY27 budget allocates the funds we need for housing services
Listen to @Rachel_F_White, our Deputy Director of Youth Advocacy, deliver powerful remarks: “We demand that our leaders treat youth homelessness like the crisis—and prevention opportunity—that it is. Because every young person deserves more than survival. They deserve stability. They deserve dignity. They deserve a future.”
Housing saves lives!
Join us on Tuesday, May 12th, at 10 am, in front of the Wilson Building for a rally, followed by council visits, to urge the council to fund housing and services for our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

We even delivered candy microphones to every Council office with one message: speak up for DC families, educators, and workers in these hearings. 🎤🍬
