Remembering and giving thanks for all God has done is not just for holidays – it’s a practice we can do anytime, anywhere. Giving thanks boosts our faith and reminds us that God has been with us before, is still with us today, and will be with us going forward.
I used to argue with others who didn’t believe women could preach and pastor. So much energy wasted.
Nowadays, I just train and provide opportunities for women to preach in our congregation. And when they do, hearts are changed, Jesus is glorified and the church is edified.
A great read! "Discipleship needs an emphasis on contemplation for the thoughtlessness that pervades our land, a commitment to humility that lowers our defenses, and a Spirit-generated ability to be a calm presence in an anxious world. "https://t.co/3rL9pnZbna via @richvillodas
Will building deeply-transformed disciples be challenging? Absolutely. Will it take much time? Most definitely. Will it cost you? Yes. But the cost will be much greater if you don't. #EHDiscipleship
“The more we fix our minds, bodies, and souls on the person of Christ the more we understand how to hold these paradoxes in harmonious tension. The more we gaze on Christ, the more we are drawn into the activity and life of the Triune God.” - Eric Mason, Envision Chicago
My God was big enough, but my faith was too small. My passion was strong enough, but my character was too weak. My vision was deep enough, but my intimacy with God was too shallow. God had to do a work in me before He could do the work through me that He wanted to do - Deep Faith
When scripture says "not to fear"/"be anxious in nothing", it isn't a command but an invitation.
It's a wooing into a relationship of love because love casts out fear.
It isn't a demanding angry voice shaming us for fearing something, it's a father letting us know we are loved.
Today I am reminded of Three very important things. 1. God Sees me 2. God knows me. 3. God loves me. Soak in those three facts folks! They are true for you too.
When we rest from our work, we can take time to reflect on why we work.
No matter what your job is, you have a mission that you carry within it. Your calling goes deeper than your work.
It’s not often I read something in my morning devotions that I can hardly wait until the end of prayer time to tell you. I did wait but barely. :) I’m pecking away at this post 30 seconds later. To everyone of Christian faith who’s felt lost and adrift, disoriented and estranged:
My newest book, the Soul Care Leader comes out in November. In this book I try to do two things: (1) Help people go deeper in soul health, freedom and fullness. (2) Help equip people who want to lead others into wholeness in Christ.
How do we approach young people (or anyone, for that matter) who is dealing with deconstruction? Here’s part of the response I shared in the bonus Q&A episode of #TheResilientPastor podcast. Catch the full episode here: https://t.co/gVKkUMarxH
