While on leave from Apple following a plane crash, co-founder Steve Wozniak launched the US Festival, a unique blend of music and technology. Held in San Bernardino, the event featured a dedicated technology exhibition alongside performances from acts including The B-52s, Talking Heads and The Police.

The festival returned in 1983 and became one of the most ambitious attempts to bring together computing, innovation and popular culture during the early personal computer era.
