Trading isn’t about finding better strategies.

It’s about following rules when emotions show up.

This page documents discipline, structure, and execution.

No hype. No signals. No shortcuts.

[Wednesdaymoves | Discipline Trader @Wednesdaymoves]

Trading isn't about predicting every move.

It's about identifying situations where you have an edge...

and managing the downside when you're wrong.

That's the game.

[Wednesdaymoves | Discipline Trader @Wednesdaymoves]

How many trades should you backtest before trusting a strategy?

10?

50?

100?

500?

I'd rather have 100 properly documented trades than 1,000 random screenshots.

[Wednesdaymoves | Discipline Trader @Wednesdaymoves]

If your strategy only works when you manually "feel" the chart...

it's difficult to scale.

Try turning your strategy into rules.

Rules can be tested.

Feelings can't.

Here's a simple backtesting spreadsheet:

Date
Pair
Session
Setup
Direction
Entry
SL
TP
Risk
Result (R)
Screenshot
Notes
Simple beats complicated.

[Wednesdaymoves | Discipline Trader @Wednesdaymoves]

Screenshot every backtested trade.

After 100 trades, create categories:

A+ setup
Average setup
Bad setup
You may discover your strategy isn't the problem.
Your trade selection is.

[Wednesdaymoves | Discipline Trader @Wednesdaymoves]

A proper backtest should answer:

"When this exact setup appears, what usually happens next?"

That's a much better question than:

"Can I predict the market?"

[Wednesdaymoves | Discipline Trader @Wednesdaymoves]

Backtesting rule:

Change ONE variable at a time.

Otherwise you won't know what actually improved the strategy.

[Wednesdaymoves | Discipline Trader @Wednesdaymoves]

Don't change your strategy after 3 losses.

That's how traders end up with:

Strategy #1
Strategy #2
Strategy #3
Strategy #47
without ever knowing whether any of them worked.

[Wednesdaymoves | Discipline Trader @Wednesdaymoves]

Want to know whether your strategy actually works?

Backtest it.

Not 5 trades.

Not 10.

Collect a meaningful sample.

Then calculate:

Win rate
Average R
Drawdown
Expectancy
Best/worst conditions

[Wednesdaymoves | Discipline Trader @Wednesdaymoves]

What ruins more traders?

Bad strategy

or

bad execution?

My answer:

A mediocre strategy executed consistently can be studied.

A good strategy executed emotionally can't.

One of the biggest upgrades a trader can make:

Stop watching P&L while you're in the trade.

Watch price.

Your job is to manage the position according to the plan.

Not react to the green/red number.

[Wednesdaymoves | Discipline Trader @Wednesdaymoves]

Trading becomes easier when you stop asking:

"Will this trade win?"

And start asking:

"Did I execute my edge correctly?"

You control the second question.

[Wednesdaymoves | Discipline Trader @Wednesdaymoves]

If you can't accept your stop loss before entering...

you shouldn't enter.

The loss should already be mentally paid for.

[Wednesdaymoves | Discipline Trader @Wednesdaymoves]

A losing trade can be a GOOD trade.

A winning trade can be a BAD trade.

Result ≠ quality of execution.

Judge yourself by whether you followed your process.

[Wednesdaymoves | Discipline Trader @Wednesdaymoves]

Revenge trading usually starts with one sentence:

"I just need to make it back."

That's when the goal changes from executing a strategy...

to recovering money.

Dangerous shift.

[Wednesdaymoves | Discipline Trader @Wednesdaymoves]

The hardest trading skill:

Doing nothing.

No setup?

Don't trade.

Bored?

Don't trade.

Missed entry?

Don't chase.

Market will still be there tomorrow.

[Wednesdaymoves | Discipline Trader @Wednesdaymoves]

What's your biggest weakness?

A) Entries
B) Risk management
C) Psychology
D) Overtrading
E) Exiting too early

[Wednesdaymoves | Discipline Trader @Wednesdaymoves]

Your trading journal should track more than P&L.

Record:

Setup
Entry
Stop
Target
Reason
Emotion
Result
Mistake
Then review 50+ trades.
Patterns will appear.

[Wednesdaymoves | Discipline Trader @Wednesdaymoves]

You don't need a 90% win rate.

A strategy with:

40% wins

and

2:1 average reward/risk

can still have positive expectancy.

Learn EXPECTANCY.

[Wednesdaymoves | Discipline Trader @Wednesdaymoves]

10 losing trades don't necessarily mean your strategy is bad.

It depends on:

• Win rate
• Risk/reward
• Sample size
• Execution
• Market conditions
One week is not a backtest.
