@professor_dave Definitely no ‘useless parent’ in this story! You boy got to go swimming, and he got a new pair of trunks! He’ll see that as a win. As parents, we are our own worst critics. But you gave him what he needed, regardless of anything else. Don’t beat yourself up
Using @HelloFreshUK boxes to teach my 10 year old to cook this week! Fragrant chicken and coconut curry tonight. Read all of the instructions and did all of the cooking himself (supervised, of course) and expanded his palate in the process. He’s so proud (and so am I 🤩)

Today marks 30 years since I was first diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. It’s a weird milestone to mark, but feels like it shouldn’t be ignored. Diabetes is relentless, and affects literally everything. It takes some serious fighting!
Another reason why being a lab tech is a job like no other. Shopped for 4 beautiful bunches of flowers on my way home tonight. Carried them home and will carefully carry them to school in the morning. And year 7 will then dissect them to identify the different parts of a flower!
What technicians do in their holidays! Took my son to see the Watkins waterfalls in snowdonia today. One of my favourite spots on Earth. Loved sharing it with my boy today! I’ll make a hiker of him yet 🥰
Update! Year 11 handled this taste of a level chemistry so well! Really proud of them all - varying success rates on the mirrors but they should all be pleased with their results 😃 @MrLordChem
I love it when this demo works this well! Trialled for a lesson tomorrow - the teacher running the lesson has asked for ‘exactly what I used to make that!’ Hoping our year 11s get some spectacular mirrors 🤩
