@pegobry_en Disagree. JD lacks charisma and authenticity, similar to Hillary Clinton. Rubio easily beats JD on the “who would you rather have a beer with” question. Of course, if the Democrats are foolish enough to run a hard left/DSA candidate in 2028, JD wins.
@DamonLinker@thistheall4u This is reasonable, although my most pessimistic fear is that the Middle East is a foreign policy “Hotel California” for the United States.
@DamonLinker@thistheall4u That’s a fair take. But what Israel supposed to do now? Hamas remaining in power only ensures that the cycle of violence will continue. And Hamas is willing to endlessly sacrifice the lives of Gazans while using their suffering for their propaganda strategy.
@DamonLinker@thistheall4u I should mention as well that leaving Hamas intact risks endlessly prolonging this conflict, which will lead to even more Palestinian casualties.
@DamonLinker@thistheall4u Why is Shapiro wrong, assuming that hitting Gaza harder would defeat Hamas? Civilian casualties are sad, but happen in all wars. Certainly, the United States did not hesitate to bomb German and Japanese cities during the Second World War.
@anecdotal Mandate in person testing, including for online classes. Bring back blue books and let the kids who can’t think or write for themselves go down in flames on exams.
@anmhouston@DamonLinker Exactly! And all the Middle Eastern have a vested economic interest in keeping the oil flowing. But why should that concern us? Let them figure it out. Again, if we are going to pull back from Israel, the entire region should be on the table.
@DamonLinker@anmhouston I think cases for national interest could be made for all these countries. For example, why should we defend Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States against Iran?
@anmhouston@DamonLinker Absolutely! If the United States pulls back from Israel, it should do the same for Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, the Gulf States, etc. While it isn't fashionable to protest these countries, they have far worse human rights records than Israel.
@jncatron@Muhamma69510297@SimmonsBart You seem to disregard the fact that Muhammad was a false prophet and that Jesus warned us about them (Matthew 7:15). Christians shouldn’t accommodate a false religion, especially one that would overturn our democracy and make us second-class citizens.
@jncatron@Muhamma69510297@SimmonsBart The main thing is that Christians should not accommodate a false and blasphemous religion such as Islam that would also make us second class citizens in our own countries if it had its way. Halal meat would just be the start.
@jncatron@Muhamma69510297@SimmonsBart Not eating blood isn't the same as halal. If so, then eating pork without eating pig's blood would be halal. In other words, all the bacon and ham sandwiches that I eat would be halal.
@Muhamma69510297@SimmonsBart The Old Testament was the old covenant. Jesus started a new covenant with his death, burial, and resurrection. The new covenant does not include the old dietary laws. And beer and bacon are delicious!
@Muhamma69510297@SimmonsBart For a Christian to do Halal meat is to bend the knee to Islam. If Muslims want that, they should be prepared to return the favor. Obviously, I jest. But Christians in the West are not dhimmis who have to accommodate Islam, which is a false religion.
@Muhamma69510297@SimmonsBart Christians should do Halal meat when Muslims start eating pork and drinking alcohol. The Bible (e.g. Acts of the Apostles), which is the word of God, permits the eating of pork. Jesus's first miracle was turning water into wine.
@Aunty_Bigot Europeans get worked up about lax American gun laws and shooting deaths. Well, in Europe, people die during heatwaves! And from the American point of view, said deaths are completely needless and preventable.
@BullBoss5 Why not at least have box or circular electric fans for heat waves? They are much more affordable than AC. That's what a lot of Americans in the South had before AC became common. As a child in Alabama, my school building that didn't have AC used them a lot.
This is just outstanding.
