Karim Khan, the ICC defense lawyer who represented President William Ruto, has been suspended with immediate effect following allegations of sexual misconduct involving a lawyer who previously worked in his office. Investigations into the claims are ongoing.

While in Norway, President Ruto @WilliamsRuto reportedly stated that he had never heard of the Strait of Hormuz, or even knew it existed, until the recent Iran–Israel/US conflict brought it into global focus.

This raises a serious question. William Ruto has been a Kenyan politician for decades, served as Deputy President, and is now the President of Kenya. Has he truly never heard of the Strait of Hormuz all these years?

If that is the case, then another question follows: where does Kenya's fuel come from, and through which global shipping routes does it pass? The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most critical oil transit chokepoints. If the President genuinely had no knowledge of it, then how can the government confidently attribute fuel price pressures to disruptions linked to that region?

On the other hand, if the government is using the Hormuz situation to justify fuel price increases, yet the President himself claims he was unaware of its existence, then there is a clear contradiction that deserves an explanation.

Kenyans deserve transparency. The government should provide a clear and honest account of how global conflicts affect our fuel supply and pricing, rather than expecting citizens to accept every explanation without scrutiny.
