With calvary sweeping around the back, trebuchet and ram hammering the walls, can the castle hold? I've never really got round to playing Joan of Arc, but my son (6) loves getting it out on a rainy day and telling stories. Love watching him methodically placing the tiny units.

@DanThurot @BoardwithStocks @CardboardEmp @playersaidblog I dunno; from my play and those @TheLudoquist, 3 or 4 players familiar with the game might blast through the 1st Era in 2 or 3 hours. More players, more eras? Hard to see hour a 4 player game across two eras could stay under TI4 length.

One (of many) impacts on working conditions is staff shortages, and that won't change without pay. So, yes, need.

As my kids (here, 6 and 9) get older, I'm discovering a new appreciation for classics I skipped over a decade ago. Taught them Lords of Waterdeep today; they really liked it. (Though he wasn't much pleased his sister won.)

@OBollocks @DanThurot An odd take: is the game 'naive' or just of a different opinion than yours? There's some solid educational background behind the design team and advisors. I thought the Concepts booklet a solid overview of the concepts and abstractions for the game. Maybe try playing the game...

@DanThurot I mean, sure, why not? It's a good game; certainly a better game than I expected, and a better game than actual teaching tool. A half dozen plays in, still enjoying it immensely. Very interactive, and the asymmetry is fun.

Quiet, rainy Sunday and after a game of new family favourite #Dorfromantik by @pegasusspiele, my daughter asked if she could try it again alone. Her first solo game...! And she crushed it, hitting a new high score, and unlocking several new tiles.
