@LloydCymru With a strong local campaign and good candidates (and if people who are sympathetic to not destroying the planet learn how the voting system works) the Greens should get a seat in Cardiff S & W + Cardiff N & E. Maybe a good campaign in other seats would reap rewards

@RoathMemorial @CathaysCemetery Thanks a lot - this is notably different to all the other 40 or so Cardiff chapel WW1 memorials in my database - the only slightly similar one (being a carving on stone) is this, from Ebenezer (also on Charles Street)

I was not aware of this list in the South Wales Press naming every man who volunteered in Llanelli from 12 August to 8 Sept 1914 - a thousand names - very enlightening

But then in 1924 the ‘Liberal’ candidate was (the very illiberal) Alfred Mond. The (Tory) Western Mail taunted the Liberals with Hinds’ comments that only a Welshman should represent Carmarthen 2/2

An interesting item in the Western Mail from a 100 years ago today (13 August 1924) regarding the by-election campaign in Carmarthen. The seat’s previous MP, John Hinds had argued in 1922 that the seat should be held by a Welshman … 1/2

@Wilttwits @LloydCymru Each constituency in Wales will be combined with a neighbour to create 16 large super-constituencies which will each return 6 MSs to Cardiff Bay. The mechanics will vary according to circumstances but basically 12% should be enough to secure a seat
