In this Bible exposition we walk the road to Jerusalem with Jesus in Mark 10:32-45, as He tells his friends and followers for a third time what's coming.
Take a look!

„Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever.” 1 Chronicles 16:34
Have a blessed Sunday evening folks!

Super Short Thought:
A ransom is a price paid to set somebody free.
Jesus says he came "not to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many." Mark 10:45
You can't earn it. You can only receive it, like a gift.

Super Short Thought: strong leaders carry the most for everybody else.
That's Jesus' idea of greatness in Mark 10:43.

@TheRuralProject That's a very good point ... I really hadn't thought of it like that!

James and John asked Jesus for the best seats in his kingdom.
He didn't mock them. He asked if they could drink his cup.
Wanting your life to matter is legit. Grabbing status for yourself is the problem.
Jesus offers a different road. Yes, of course it costs. All roads do

They expected a Messiah to crush the Romans.
Jesus walked ahead of his friends toward Jerusalem and told them exactly what was coming. He wasn't trapped. He was choosing it.
This is what greatness looks like: love that walks toward the cost.

How do you know you'll be alright?
A good, wealthy man ran up to Jesus, knelt in the dust and asked the biggest question there is of the greatest man there ever was. Then he walked away sad. Why?

A reed walking stick may look like support. But when you lean on it, it snaps, and the sharp end can hurt you badly.
That's Ezekiel's picture of misplaced trust. It fits the rich man in Mark 10, too.
Check out this Super Short Thought.

Where is your safety net?
Jesus loved the rich man, then named the one thing he leaned on.
Not because money is evil. Because he thought it proved he was OK, and secretly doubted it.
Leaning on a person who loves and can care for you beats anything in your bank.

Super Short Thought: A rich man ran up to Jesus, knelt, and asked what he still lacked. Property, a clean record, respect. Still the question. Money buys comfort, but it never tells you you're safe. How much is enough? Mark 10:17-22

[Rev Simon Bowkett 💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇺🇦 @WelshRev]

Nobody who heard "take up your cross" thought of jewellery. They pictured the road to execution.
Mark 8:27-38, filmed in the Welsh hills this week. Who do you say Jesus is?

What is a bridge for? To connect two places that would otherwise stay separated. In 2 Corinthians 5, Paul says Christ built a cross-shaped bridge to God for His followers, and they're now guides along it. If that's you, who will you roll it out for today? #SuperShortThought

[Rev Simon Bowkett 💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇺🇦 @WelshRev]

Super Short Thought: The miracle of Acts 2 at the birth of the Church wasn't that everybody became the same.
It was that God brought very different people together around Jesus.
Same God. Same faith. Same gospel. Different languages, cultures, backgrounds.
