If you have to tell people you carry weight, you do not.
Weight is felt before it is named. It registers in a room before the one who bears it has spoken a sentence.
The prophets did not announce their authority; their authority announced itself in the trembling of those who heard them, and often in the trembling of the prophet first.
Authentic gravitas is the residue of what a life has cost, the sediment of long obedience, sustained suffering, and hours spent in the presence of the Holy where pretense cannot survive. It cannot be manufactured by title, credential, platform, or self-description.
Those who must inform the room that they are apostolic are confessing, without knowing it, that they are not.
Those who must remind their hearers of an anointing are testifying, against themselves, that the anointing has not yet done its deeper work.
Weight is what remains when the performance is stripped away, and those who carry it have usually been stripped enough times to stop performing.
They speak quietly because they no longer need to be heard above anyone. They are heard because something in them has been forged in a fire the room can sense without being told.
Revelation is not divine information dropped into the mind. Rather, it is about being drawn into the way God sees, feels, and cares. It transforms the seer, not just the seeing.
@elonmusk Lifting a prayer for you, Elon. Questioning is beautiful. Genuine curiosity that opens the mind to search the unknowable rather than rejecting what it cannot comprehend is a journey of joyous purpose.
You have a beautiful mind. A creative spirit. An industrious soul. Lean in.
@markchironna The cruciform life is rich beyond expression. The sacrifice is costly, but what is obtained has value that cannot be measured. "A setting of the gaze that refuses the world's rival claims on our loyalty. " ... I will meditate on that.
You’ll know your offer is clear when you stop needing to:
• Convince
• Sway
• Sell
Anyone.
Clarity doesn’t persuade.
It polarizes.
It makes the right people lean in
And the wrong people vanish without a word.
There comes a time and season in life when your pace changes—not because you’ve lost your way, but because wisdom teaches you to walk differently. The urgency of youth gives way to the steadiness of experience. The need to prove is replaced by the desire to impart. The rush to achieve is overtaken by the longing to invest in what truly lasts.
This shift isn’t about slowing down for the sake of it; it’s about moving with intention, carrying the weight of what matters, and letting go of what no longer serves. It’s about discerning where your presence is most needed, where your voice carries the most impact, and where your energy is best spent.
When this season comes, the question isn’t whether you can keep up with the pace of the past, but whether you are willing to embrace the pace that wisdom now invites you into.
@grantstern@davidbadash Social media makes a difference in how many people know about it now vs. then and how many people will express their opinions and find others who resonate with them. The world has changed.
@ElonMuskOde Sadly, for far too much of my life. Not now, but it wouldn't take TOO prolonged of a crisis to cause us to crumble financially. Life in the middle class is precarious.
Just in case rights for women is a genuine issue for you and not a talking point ...
The actions of the U.S. directly impact these bright, beautiful, traumatically suppressed women and girls.
The Taliban has decreed that Afghan women are forbidden to:
Go to high school or university
Work in the civil service
Attend a protest
Go abroad
Drive a car
Travel alone
Ride in a taxi
Speak in public
Speak loudly inside your house
Sing
Read the Quran aloud in public
Speak to a male doctor
Play sport
Go to the gym
Go to the park
Wear bright clothes
Wear high heels
Look at men they don’t know
Show their faces in public
Own a smartphone
@mcuban Just so disappointed in you backing her. So disappointed in how I have witnessed you spin her record and rhetoric as good for America. I must say, I have lost the respect I once had for you.
@ElieNYC Actually, we live in a Republic where we send representatives to keep from unfair exploitation of rural communities because they will always be outnumbered by urban population centers.
It keeps us from "mob rule."
The electoral college is actually a brilliant, thoughtful system
