Throughout your educational career, there are going to be difficult moments with people who say things that are not true. It is important to stay focused on what matters- being an educator that impacts the next generation.

@JoshuaLisec You speak the truth. I did it last night in a ballroom full of professional educators. The credibility was my new book, that you assisted with, “Elevating Education: One Great Educator at a Time”.
Educators continue to face burnout, and it is not something that is easy to conquer. With daily habits, such as the P.I.E.S. Framework in my book, you can find yourself ready to serve others. How are you conquering burnout this week?

@CoreyBBrooks Pastor Brooks. I have reached out to a good friend who owns a large Turkey Farm in Arkansas. They have a contract with Butterball and are reaching out to them now. If you would like to connect, send me a DM. (We have exchange a few messages in the past.)
It is important to prepare students for their career, but it is just as important to remember that we as educators are role models and mentors. It is our job not only to help our students grow intellectually but also as people.️🍎
Let me know some ways you can be a good role model for your students this week!

Have you thought about what signals you are giving off to your students before they walk through the door? Engaging and being present with your students help prepare you mentally and emotionally for the rest of class.

Lowering the education bar doesn’t help kids — it strands them. No-zeros, no-homework, and “everyone’s a winner” policies sound compassionate. They quietly destroy the only thing that ever moved the needle for 95% students. We need more adults who refuse to lie to students (and parents).
Burn down the teachers' unions.
NY public schools (along with Chicago Public schools, LA USD, Baltimore Public schools, etc.…) have a budgets typically between one and two billion dollars. Yes billion. They routinely spend more than $20,000 per student - for terrible outcomes. All their money goes to supporting political and social issues and not to education.
This is not usually the teachers’ fault. The system is designed to support itself - resulting in the failure of the students. It is extremely intentional. Teachers are required to work SEL, DEI, and CRT into their curriculum routinely, and none of that has anything to do with reading, writing, math, or science.
By contrast, the state of Mississippi is now ranked near the top (after being ranked near the very bottom forever ) in reading literacy and in math with only a fraction of the budget of these other states and district. They removed all DEI and CRT and other social emotional issues from the curriculum and decided to focus on the things that actually matter to move students to the next level and turn them into productive citizens of western civilization. They retrained every teacher and they refused to pass students along starting in fourth grade if they are not meeting standards.
It turns out that if everyone can read, everyone has a path to success. Your past explains you; it does not define you.
Mississippi outperformed the excuses when you measure for every metric - including race, fatherlessness, incarceration, ELL, poverty, etc. Mississippi decided that enough was enough.
You can find all this research and more in the newest education book on Amazon that is climbing up the charts faster than California wildfire:
Elevating Education : One Great Educator at a Time (An honest guide to conquering burnout and inspire in the uninspired.)
Side note: most teachers do NOT support their unions: they simply don’t want the stigma of saying it out loud! (no one wants to be a pariah .) The major teachers unions in America do virtually nothing to support actual learning.
Facts over feelings. I’m here to teach, not coddle your emotions.
