Britain’s influence in Ukraine has been considerable but always reliant on the brilliance of small groups of diplomats, servicemen and spooks not scale of investment or support. But I think this is unlikely to translate to a major peace dividend for Britain down the line.

Once the war ends and Ukraine is absorbed into the EU in the context of German rearmament the wins from a military-industrial peace dividend, such as a booming drone sector, will likely fall to them. Scale and integrative pathway will dominate in the end.

The United Kingdom will supply enriched uranium to Ukraine, the British government has announced.

The package, worth £210 million, will provide uranium fuel for Ukraine’s nuclear power plants.

The move is aimed at ensuring the stable operation of Ukraine’s nuclear energy sector, which generates more than half of the country’s electricity, while further reducing dependence on Russian nuclear fuel.

Russia must be forced to end its war against our people. And Ukraine’s long-range weapons are one of the important components of such pressure.

A fire broke out on the roof of the Assumption Cathedral within the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, while the Mystetskyi Arsenal cultural and museum complex was also set ablaze.
