July 11, 1943, just 15 months after work began the McArthur Lock at Sault Saint Marie was opened. Today- they say it'll be 10 years to built a new lock at the Soo. Things moved faster in WWII

WWII Picture of the Day - Pocket battleship Lützow with a snapped off stern in Kiel harbor. Damage was caused by a torpedo hit from the submarine HMS Spearfish on April the 11th.

The Willow Run B-24 bomber plant is where the mass production of the most bombers built during WWII took place. Most of the historic plant has been torn down. What's left is now a museum. I'll be there on May 5. U should be there too.
