It was great to join Choice Matters in support of women’s reproductive freedom tonight in Tarrytown. Abortion is on the ballot. 🗣️ We have 12 days left to make sure we pass Prop. 1 and defeat Mike Lawler to prevent a national abortion ban.
I’m proud to be endorsed by Westchester Jewish Democrats! I am the only pro-Israel, pro-choice, and pro-democracy candidate on the ballot here in NY-17. Let’s keep organizing to stop Donald Trump and his lackey Mike Lawler as we head into early voting tomorrow.
On 9/20, Rockland GOP Chairman Lawrence Garvey made explosive allegations of campaign finance fraud and other corruption, as well as illegal retaliation, by several Republican officials, including Congressman Mike Lawler. Some of those allegations were covered in The Journal News. Today I called for a full investigation by the appropriate authorities into Mike Lawler’s role in the corruption alleged by Garvey. Our community deserves answers.
Here’s another example of Mike Lawler refusing to stand up to Donald Trump’s dangerous antisemitic behavior and remarks. It’s disgusting and disqualifying, and it shows he doesn’t actually care about combating antisemitism if he feels there’s no political benefit to him.
When Mike Lawler thinks the cameras are off, he says what he really feels. While campaigning for Donald Trump and JD Vance recently, Lawler said that Democrats “hate America.” I am appalled that Lawler has such contempt for the hundreds of thousands of Democrats in the 17th District. He also said that Trump, who tried to overturn the 2020 election and pledged to pardon the insurrectionists who attacked law enforcement officers, “loves this country.” The Lower Hudson Valley deserves better.
Westchester for Change supports moving all city elections from odd years to even years, including New York City! It’s the best way to increase turnout, reduce racial and age-gaps in participation, save money, and reduce voter fatigue! @NYSenate@AndreaSCousins#LetNYVote
Good Morning @NYSenate: New Yorkers support moving their local elections to even years, and the highest support comes from NYC voters! It’s time to move city elections too, including NYC 🗽 Pass S9126 (Skoufis)/A10466 (Walker) this week!
Gov. Hochul nominated 25 judicial candidates for review by the Senate.
Judge Laura Ward has a deeply concerning record.
We need to call the Judiciary Committee members who will be voting on the nominees, and urge them to Say No to Ward.
Here's how—and why. 🧵1/8
This is disrespectful to our legal system and the citizens you claim to represent. It looks like falling in line trumps the bipartisanship that you’re always tweeting about. #NY17 deserves better.
Congratulations @brooklynnaacp and @ljoywilliams for winning its lawsuit challenging the prohibition on providing food or drink to voters on line at polling places ("Line Warming Ban")!
It was wonderful to be in Pound Ridge today for their Memorial Day ceremony. As a community, we remembered the sacrifices of the brave men and women who gave their lives in order to protect our basic freedoms. I am forever grateful for their service.
📣As we begin this week, we are thrilled to take this moment to applaud the @NYSenate, @AndreaSCousins for passing four critical bills to improve election administration in New York!
New Yorkers deserve the best possible experience when voting, and boards of elections should be supported and equipped with the necessary tools to do so. We thank the Senate for advancing these bills + urge the @NYSA_Majority, @CarlHeastie to do the same in these final weeks.
One bill - S617 - would strengthen training requirements for boards of elections by mandating commissioners complete a uniform training curriculum within their first 6 months. This bill is a common-sense next step to poll worker training bill the Legislature passed last session.
