Festivities abound as we officially kicked-off the Volvo/Westport HPDI joint venture yesterday at the JV’s new home setting, Vancouver, Canada. We marked this momentous occasion with invited customers, key stakeholders and executives from both companies.

Guests had the opportunity to see a Volvo FH internal combustion engine pilot truck in action rolling into @UBC's Smart Hydrogen Energy District (SHED) refueling station.

The HPDI fuel system technology is already available in Volvo’s gas-powered trucks and offers a great transition alternative for fleets to reduce its climate impact today.

“Today we celebrate the further validation of the HPDI technology with the establishment of the joint venture between Volvo and Westport to further accelerate the adoption of the HPDI system by the world’s global diesel-cycle engine manufacturers.” says Dan Sceli, Westport CEO and interim president of the JV.

Our #alternativefuel #technologies can play an important role 💪 in meeting the strengthened European decarbonization targets for Heavy-Duty Vehicles 🚛.

We welcome the recent agreement between European 🇪🇺 legislators regarding the lowering 📉 of CO2 emissions in the European Union’s heavy-duty road transport sector: 45 % by 2030, 65 % by 2035, and 90 % by 2040 as compared to a 2019 base line.

These ambitious decarbonization targets can be achieved by utilizing a blend of new and current technologies such as those in our portfolio.

➤ Our H2 HPDI™️ fuel system, a cost-effective, high-performance solution to support climate neutrality in the heavy-duty mobility sector, will be able to attain ZEV (Zero-emission vehicles) classification for many truck configurations, being compatible with the threshold of 3gCO2/ton-km.

➤ Also, our engine management systems for spark ignited engines have been engineered for monofuel hydrogen ICEs that are classified as a ZEV.

➤ Finally, our Hydrogen components for fuel pressure management and regulation are used commercially today in the growing market for hydrogen fuel cell and ICE vehicles.

We are committed to working together 🤝 with EU legislators, OEMs, and fleets alike to create reliable solutions that meet required decarbonization targets and are tailored to unique application and operational needs.
