"Vape shops have done far more to reduce smoking and improve public health than the Government ever has. Targeting them with higher taxes is punitive, counterproductive and entirely contrary to the public good." Mark Oates Founder of We Vape
The government says vaping is far less harmful than smoking, then regulates it as if it were a cigarette. Martin Cullip calls out the contradiction.
“Taxes send a message, plain packaging sends a message, products hidden behind screens send a message.”

The UK Government wants to treat vaping like smoking, hiding it in shops and forcing it into plain packaging like cigarettes.
That risks increasing the number of smokers and reinforcing the false belief that vaping is as dangerous as smoking, when the evidence is clear: vaping is far less harmful.
Respond to the consultation today and say no:
I've written at @DailyPouchNews about how new research finds that a majority of the public wrongly believe that vaping as bad or worse than smoking and why does the tobacco control industry not do something about it. https://t.co/F4SFjRqM2c
The UK has a problem: many smokers wrongly believe vaping is as dangerous as smoking.
The Government’s answer? Put vapes in plain packaging, just like cigarettes, and make that confusion worse.
Go figure.....
"Analysis shows public understanding about vaping, which is far less harmful than smoking, has plummeted in past decade"
Very much due to media disinformation

Are the French definitely ok?
British Soldiers warned France's insane Nicotine Pouch ban could land them in the nick whilst on exercise with NATO!

Since 2013, an estimated 100 BILLION cigarettes have not been smoked in Great Britain thanks to vaping.
That's around:
• 1 trillion fewer puffs of tobacco smoke
• More than 20 trips to the Moon if lined end-to-end
• Roughly 200 trips around the Earth
This is one of the biggest public health successes of the 21st century.

What’s the real case for banning vaping in public? 🤔
As @Clive_Bates points out, the argument simply doesn’t stack up 📉

For the first time, vaping has surpassed smoking in Great Britain.
10.0% vape vs 9.1% smoke.
95% of vapers are current or former smokers — suggesting substitution, not initiation.
A key milestone for tobacco harm reduction.

No, this new “vaping causes cancer” study doesn’t show that. Not even close.
What it actually is:
• Not new research
• Not a systematic review
• No clear method for selecting studies
• No criteria for proving causation
In plain terms: it’s an opinion-led narrative dressed up as science.
Experts across UK universities are unusually aligned on this:
6) It finds “possible mechanisms” not real-world risk
Yes, you can find biological pathways.
No, that does not prove people actually get cancer from vaping. Even the paper’s own logic admits:
there’s no quantifiable evidence of cancer risk in humans.
