@sabreappraisal@ProducerDrew_ Are you referring to the compensation calcs or a restriction on years, because you can offer more than 5 years but the AAV of the offer is calculated using the total value of the contract over a maximum of 5 years
@cfpzach@dominictiano I doubt they have no confidence, I'm moreso wondering what precautions they'll take with their backup situation based on how much risk they see going into next year
@CarbonChemist1@JfrankiieC@CamInTaunton If they're not paying Swayman 8.25 they're a lottery team. If we want to say Bussi's a better backup than Korpisalo that's fine but Bussi was Carolina's backup going into the playoffs for a reason. The extra 4 ish million Boston would be negligible compared to their roster holes
@JfrankiieC@CamInTaunton Seriously. He wouldn't have played games for most of the teams in the playoffs this year. It worked out in Carolina's favor because of their roster but if he's on the Bruins he isn't starting, and they still have the same holes in their lineup.
@LalimesMartian Players should start letting teams know that if the information about them being asked to waive leaks, the player will automatically refuse to waive. I don't imagine there are clauses in these contracts that prevent conditional acceptance by the player.
@JulianBeckett75 @TianoDom27109@briandefelice_ That would make a ton of sense in terms of roster construction, bring in a very young NHLer instead of adding another 18 year old next draft that won't be ready in the near future.
@connorkaplan@smclaughlin9 Actually I think I may have misunderstood your reply. In which case, I agree, the other conditions were likely an afterthought, considering the condition on it becoming a first was a statistical longshot
@connorkaplan@smclaughlin9 Where did I say I cared about the protection? I said I was surprised it wasn't mentioned because it involves more than one condition and two separate trades. That pick was already over two years out from the date the trade occurred.
@smclaughlin9 True. I am just surprised this wasn't a bigger emphasis at the time, particularly when compared with the Leafs similar scenario with Boston and Philly. Maybe it's a product of the first being conditional on Florida making the ECF in the first place: people didn't look past that
