I am Sandy Petersen, author of Call of Cthulhu and co-author of the later editions of RuneQuest. To be fair, Call of Cthulhu is, obviously, a really good target for "theater kid" stuff. Angsty 1920s jazz? Oh yes. Better for their ideas than D&D, frankly. And RuneQuest, developed around a world literally designed by an old-school hippy, is ripe for their meddling. And @ratbitebaby is 100% wrong.
I started roleplaying in 1974. My first game group (lasted til 1980) were all from the local university, which had and has a large theater production group (BYU).
I can't speak for other groups, but ZERO of us were what you'd call "theater kids". One of us got a job as a NATO janitor(!); another worked in an alloy manufacturing plant, yet another was an avid deer hunter, a fourth was a lawyer, and so forth.
When I started playing with "outside" groups mostly from California in the early 1980s, we also only rarely met "theater kids". By 1985, they did start creeping into my games. I don't know how many were in D&D by then. But they were not there at the start, and having met Gary Gygax, Jim Ward, Dave Arneson, and Dave Hargrave personally I can say they were the complete Platonic ideals of Not Theater Kids.
Yo we got a new beer finder app. Be gentle! It shows deliveries over the past 60 days, so if it's an older seasonal, maybe call and double check. Enjoy! https://t.co/aG3960FWrT
The full story is about 10x crazier than even this headline implies
They were actually, fully gangstalked on the direct orders of eBay executives
I am not misusing the word "gangstalk" here. It's the only true, verified case of gangstalking that I know of.
In case you didn't know, all of the allegations of sexual misconduct, abuse, harassment, and "frat boy culture" was entirely fake and the state of California even admitted that there was no evidence substantiating any of the claims.
The ENTIRE controversy around Blizzard was setup by California to force the company to stop hiring White men using MeToo allegations to strong arm them.
Some of these accusations were so bizarre and insane that they included:
- Theft and consumption of breastmilk during work hours
- A "rape room" named after Bill Cosby
- Sexual harassment to the point of an employee ending her own life
All of these claims were essentially a theatre performance over the fact that ONLY 1-in-5 of Blizzard employees were women.
As a result, Blizzard agreed to pay roughly 18M in fines and setup HR hiring practices that would discriminate against White men.
Internal messages between California Civil Rights Divison officials showed that the entire thing was a ploy to "send a message to the industry" to literally ruin videogames.
It was SO FUCKING FAKE that Brack and Kotick literally PAID THEIR OWN EMPLOYEES TO STAGE A WALK OUT.
After Blizzard capitulated and announced it would discriminate in its hiring the state walked back from a billion dollar lawsuit to a 55M settlement and announced that all the allegations were false.
Adulthood is realizing that "Enix" has been holding the "Square" half of the company back ever since their merger 20 years ago. You can't look at the ludography of pre-Enix vs post-Enix Squaresoft and argue otherwise.
The owner of Schloss Neuhausen saw this statuette in my friend’s possession and liked it. It is now displayed in the main hall of the Schloss in a place of honor.
He has no idea it is an idol of Great Cthulhu.
