@omarvvvr A VPN changes your IP, that's it. Timezone, language, cookies, the account you're logged into, all of that still says where you really are. And if WebRTC or IPv6 leaks, they don't even need to guess.
@Officially_Dev_ Usually it's a leak (WebRTC or IPv6 giving away the real IP) or a mismatch, like a German IP with a browser set to Indian time. Sites don't need much to notice something's off.
@MicrosoftEdge Cute costume, but trackers will still recognize your browser 👀 A new theme doesn't change its fingerprint: GPU, fonts and screen size give it away every time.
Conduent agreed to pay $80M over a breach that exposed medical and SSN data of 62 million Americans.
Claims aren't open yet. What to do now: keep your letter, save proof of losses, freeze your credit, and ignore "settlement" texts.

@brianxbradley@hark_labs@adcock_brett The catch is that voter files are public record in most states, so brokers can just buy your data again. Some states offer confidential registration. I'd also recheck the people-search sites every few months, listings tend to come back.
@nad16cl F1TV does this a lot, they block a bunch of VPN servers. Try a different one and clear your cookies before logging in, it remembers where you were before.
@master_jpma True, ASN lookup catches most datacenter VPNs instantly. But that only tells the site you're on a VPN. Your real country still has to come from somewhere else: timezone, language, or a leak.
Some older devices still build their IPv6 address from their network card's hardware ID. Same ID in every address, on every network, for every site you visit. No cookies needed.
"Renew Lease" on your iPhone doesn't change the IP websites see. Neither does a quick router restart on Xfinity or Spectrum.

@joindeleteme Great tip. Easy check for "recruiters": the email should come from the company's real domain, not Gmail or a lookalike like https://t.co/hUW2ngQC0f. And if they push you to Telegram or WhatsApp, or ask you to buy equipment upfront, walk away.
@firefox Great answer, thank you! The incremental FPP approach makes a lot of sense. Curious to see what the WebGL attribute changes do in practice, we'll be watching 👀
@AnkanXplorer A few usual suspects: DNS requests still going to your ISP, a WebRTC or IPv6 leak exposing your real IP, browser timezone/language not matching the VPN country, location permission, and old cookies from your account.
@icountforfun Your ipad guess is probably right. It says "Connected via Saudi Arabia App Store", so X is reading the App Store region of the Apple ID on that ipad, not your actual location. The old account just has years of US history on it.
Age verification laws keep asking you to upload a photo of your ID. Last year Discord's support vendor leaked about 70,000 of them.
You can change a leaked password in five minutes. Your ID number, your face and your birthday stay the same for years.
@naoufal_elh@gralzy Good one to put on a schedule too. Have it rescan every few months, a lot of these sites add you back once they buy a fresh batch of data.
