5️⃣🔬 Ambitious Research: Through Academy By Design, our design-thinking cohort program, students have support to pursue big research projects. This year, projects include tools for detecting damage in climbing ropes & adaptive rowing machines for athletes with spinal injuries.
4️⃣⚡️ Server Project: A team of students with a passion for tech built a computer server to run large-scale projects! They donate space on the server to various clients. During the pandemic, the server was even used by scientists working on drug development for Covid-19.
3️⃣🇩🇴 Teaching Finance Classes Overseas: A student of our Business Program, Jack Schroeder ’24 developed a financial literacy curriculum for our partner schools at Kids Alive in the Dominican Republic.
2️⃣🤲 Service Project Club: Olivia Smith ’22 launched this service-focused club in 2020. This year, the club serves at By the Hand in Chicago every month.
1️⃣🚐 The Shack: In 2020, students pitched a business plan for a Wheaton Academy food truck to a group of potential investors. Within a year, their dreams were realized. Just this fall, The Shack served 1,077 dinners, 1,175 hot chocolates, and 776 cinnamon rolls at football games!
