📢New publication from WheatUCO!
🌾Our very own Mr. Glutenins (Francisco Andrade) is brightening up the summer with the paper "Development of a germplasm master set covering the variability of high molecular weight glutenin subunits for the GLU-B1 locus in Triticum sp."
❤️🩹This week starts on a sad note for the WheatUCO team.
Yesterday, after spending six months in our laboratory, Fabiola Irunio left Córdoba to return home to Bari, Italy🛫
🥘We are sure that, besides the many gastronomic memories she is taking home from Córdoba and Spain, she is also leaving with new knowledge, valuable experience, and collaborations that will contribute to her development as a scientist.
📌HARDIWHEAT project (PID2024-162096OB-I00), funded by MICIU / AEI / 10.13039/501100011033 and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF, European Union), in collaboration with Julio Isidro Sánchez from the Center for Plant Biotechnology and Genomics (CBGP, UPM–INIA/CSIC).
🎓Our student Abril Chungui García Luque has successfully defended her Master's Thesis, entitled "Genetic Control of Semolina Yellow Color Biosynthesis and Degradation in Durum Wheat", completing her https://t.co/44Jd4XXYVh. in Biotechnology at the University of Córdoba.
👩🏻🔬With this Master's Thesis, Abril closes a four-year chapter as a member of the our team. It has been a pleasure to have her with us. We wish you every success in this new stage of your career, and we hope our paths cross again very soon. Best of luck, Abril! 👏🌾
🧑🏻🌾On this occasion, the WheatUCO team was assisted by Jaime Nolasco Rodríguez from Agrovegetal and José Vázquez-García from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
🧪Sampling in our joint field trial with @AgrovegetalSA in Conil.
🍃The leaf samples are used for DNA extraction 🧬 allowing us to analyze the genes of interest in each of the pre-breeding populations.
👩🏼🎓 Evelyn Rebeka Miscoi, an undergraduate research assistant with the WHEATUCO team, has defended her Bachelor’s Thesis entitled “Variability and Genetic Control of Gluten Strength and Semolina Yellow Colour in Durum Wheat”, thereby completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology
🧬 Evelyn is now returning to her home region to continue her academic training, where she will pursue the Master’s Degree in Plant Breeding at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
