@DrNeilStone Yes. That seems eminently reasonable. Also consent is better than socialism. There is no contradiction. To the extent that you pretend there is you are outsourcing violence.
@PerBylund I think framing the morality of law as the morality of violence and then asking who would themselves personally be willing to threaten violence for the sake of a law quickly culls most laws.
@sduncanhealth Unbelievable your concern is about whether this will work or any unforeseen consequences not the threat of violence used to force private companies to put something in their product?
@jacobreynolds I couldn't disagree with you more. What gives you or anyone the right to threaten me with for violence because I choose to carry a weapon?
@1xaipe That's fine man, twitter going to do it's thing, the format doesn't allow for much bandwidth I find, people are passionate. Just watched the video it's mind boggling how much work there is that other people do and refine. Keeps you humble.
@1xaipe Ok I just ordered it. Arriving tomorrow. I don't have all the answers I just think that the average person doesn't realise how much coercion we have outsourced to the state and how much they wouldn't be comfortable performing themselves which to me is the baseline for morality.
@1xaipe Ok man lol I was so confused. To me this is very semantic, I didn't know sovereign is such a loaded word, I just mean I should be coerced by the state. I agree I am nothing without the collective, if I want to survive at all in a minarchy (I'm a minarchist) I would depend on all.
@owl_and_flowers@RobbieScowlz@PeterMcCormack Well of course I make a distinction between children and adults and yes I suppose if a court can prove the consent was genuine then I think it's morally reprehensible but it's legal. All law is violent in essence don't you agree?
@1xaipe I don't understand you, I'm trying to be good faith. I want steel, the roads, running water to be things you get through consent and trade, what am I missing? Surely consent is better than threat?
@1xaipe But I don't want the labour of others. I don't agree with welfare or socialism. Trade is consent, it's not forcing anyone's labour or resources.
@owl_and_flowers@RobbieScowlz@PeterMcCormack We are speaking past another. If I, and adult, and someone else, another adult both consent and agree to a payment contract, then does the government not them threaten violence if it determines the payment is insufficient?
@owl_and_flowers@RobbieScowlz@PeterMcCormack I dont understand your contention, we obviously disagree about things but you honestly don't grant that a law threatens violence? Whether it be a gun or a knuckle is not relevant to the moral claim?
@owl_and_flowers@RobbieScowlz@PeterMcCormack Well it's rather convenient you would have other people (the state) threaten violence on your behalf and it's heinous that you wouldn't be willing to do it yourself if you want others to do it on your behalf.
