@jakedeverell@Platypustoo@Shilisad1@MrIanAHunter@HallisseyC Yes, if a male registered as female runs quicker then my placing goes down and if a male registered as female is in the same age category then my placing goes down as does every women that follows. Time is determined by me which is ranked with other females.
@jakedeverell@Platypustoo@Shilisad1@MrIanAHunter@HallisseyC I get you now but I still don’t get your point. If you participate as female then whether you run, jog, walk skip or cartwheel round you get placed as 1st, 2nd female. If someone registered as female is male then anyone finishing afterwards is displaced.
@Platypustoo@jakedeverell@Shilisad1@MrIanAHunter@HallisseyC I’m just asking for parkrun to ask everyone to register correctly not police any results, though they do police runs with dogs etc. Cope with data? Who can’t cope with the data. Strange point to make.
@Platypustoo@Shilisad1@jakedeverell@MrIanAHunter@HallisseyC and what gotcha do you think you are making here? My point has always been about the stats parkrun choose to provide. The female placing and age category information and records etc. Not the time as we each participate as an individual - do you not understand?
@jakedeverell@Platypustoo@Shilisad1@MrIanAHunter@HallisseyC Er what? Why would people who aren’t running be ranked? You can only run with the people there on the day. How meaningful is anything if it doesn’t involve every other person in the world, is that your point? That gold medal, irrelevant as some people weren’t running?
@Platypustoo@jakedeverell@Shilisad1@MrIanAHunter@HallisseyC No one is asking for policing, I’m asking parkrun to ask everyone to register in their sex or one of the other categories, that’s all. No financial cost or barrier to turning up. If data is removed as you worry, who misses out? After all it’s only about socialisation??
@jakedeverell@Platypustoo@Shilisad1@MrIanAHunter@HallisseyC Who is asking for trans women to be banned. Not me. Anyone can turn up and take part, there are no restrictions. If I’m 10th female I’m 10th female not sure what point you are trying to make re walking, pushchairs?
@Platypustoo@Shilisad1@jakedeverell@MrIanAHunter@HallisseyC If registration has no impact on ability to run parkrun then ok to register in one of the other categories or if stats don’t matter then don’t register at all and just turn up for the socialisation and inclusivity. You don’t need to register to take part.
@jakedeverell@Platypustoo@Shilisad1@MrIanAHunter@HallisseyC one person finishing ahead of me registered as female bumps my finish position down 1 and bumps the next female in the same age category down one and everyone else who finishes after. It doesn’t just impact one person. That’s the point you are missing.
@Platypustoo@jakedeverell@Shilisad1@MrIanAHunter@HallisseyC the results matter to me, it’s part of the appeal of parkrun. If it doesn’t matter to someone else then fair enough. All I’m asking is that they ask people to register correctly that’s all. I’m sorry you don’t think it’s important enough but many people do.
@Platypustoo@jakedeverell@Shilisad1@MrIanAHunter@HallisseyC It’s not about me per se, it’s about women as a whole. One person inaccurately registering in the wrong category will impact the results of all those who finish behind them. Most may never know but the information parkrun provides in the results email will be incorrect.
