Diabreadic has an online home, Twitter! https://t.co/pcY97487NH will now make it easier to find new and past episodes, as well as the blog and other diabetes/bread resources
In the US, “child protection” means taking children away from struggling families, not ensuring housing, food & health care or safety from violence. It is state violence against children. We need to radically reimagine a society safe for children & how to collectively create it.
But this tweet is irrelevant. Because in a couple of days this will fade out of our collective memory, just like the hundreds of others. Instead it will serve as an actionless talking point for the midterms and then *poof*
I'm exhausted from the trauma porn. The cycle of millions sharing some meme in supposed collective mourning, which gets everyone emotionally "off" as they settle into the post-emote euphoria (w/ no action). Just as that starts to wear off, another crisis comes to get us off again
It's not enough to hold our babies as we watch others' babies suffer and die (though I am holding mine, too). The human cost is too high, and our inaction is immoral.
I’m excited to be working on a book proposal about lived experiences of disability + chronic illness in academia. It’s pleasing to see that there are publishers who want to amplify these voices. If you want to know more or would like to contribute, let me know! @AcademicChatter

What role can art play in understanding life with Diabetes? And is it possible to think about Diabetic data in creative ways, or even... outside of biomedicine? Dr. @ThulinSamuel's art transforms the numbers, and opens fascinating new possibilities https://t.co/oaQlDyIgN4
I sat in my intro to women's, gender, and sexuality studies class a few weeks ago and listened as the folks in that room talked through the history of reproductive rights, access to care, and the future of Roe - a lot of energy from the young folks in this fight
