On November 1st we spent a beautiful chilly morning assisting with traffic management for a 5K benefiting Boys & Girls Club of Northwest Georgia. We enjoy our blue sky days getting to give back to Whitfield County!

Saturday afternoon CERT members went to City View Church of God to hand out preparedness information during their Fall Festival. Thank you City View for the invitation to join your wonderful event!

We had an amazing time today at Home Depot’s Kids Safety Day! Over 400 kids came through to make a craft, get some goodies from everyone who was set up, and of course check out the trucks! This is always one of our favorite events of the year.

Yesterday our EMA office hosted GEMA/HS Body Recovery Class for members of Whitfield County CERT, Murray County Fire Department, Murray County Search and Rescue, Georgia K-9 Search and Rescue, and special guest Coroner Clyde McDaniel to add Whitfield County Specific Information.

Tonight’s CERT training was Damage Assessment presented by GEMA’s Tim Reeve. Our members took a deeper look at what the disaster declaration looks like and how to assess damaged homes after a disaster.

Cert has CERTainly been busy this week! Thursday they assisted Dalton PD with traffic management for the Dalton Christmas Parade. Friday again was with DPD for the Silverbell Sprint. They rounded out the week helping with Photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Career Academy.

Our team is kicking off the holiday season with lots of volunteer opportunities! Saturday they were out helping at Christmas at the Courthouse and today they’re helping with American Red Cross with a blood drive at the courthouse.

On Saturday, September 21st, 8 people started their journey to become team members. They started off with fire and utility safety, search and rescue, disaster prep, and ICS.
