Whitmer Panther visited UT today where Justices Steward & Dewine spoke about the Ohio Constitution. Justice Dewine took a couple minutes at the end to speak with and answer questions from our students.
Thanks to Mr. Berman for allowing them this opportunity!
We are proud to offer hands-on learning experiences that allow students to meet gov't officials who shape their current/future lives. Today, AP students listened to Justices Dewine & Stewart talk about Ohio's Constitution @UToledo as part of the Stranahan National Issues Forum.
Celebrating Constitution Week @Whitmer_HS this week with a bonus challenge. Students had to find President Truman who was the last president who could serve an unlimited number of terms before the 22nd Amendment imposed a 2-term limit. Thx to the students who shared selfies.
Celebrating Constitution Week @Whitmer_HS and what better way than to find President Truman, the last president who could serve an unlimited number of terms before the 22nd Amendment limited presidents to a 2-term limit. Thx to the students who shared their selfies!
The American flag has flown as a symbol of our incredible nation for 246 years! Although its design has changed over time, what the flag represents remains the same. We are grateful for our freedom and all who have defended our country. #FlagDay
There seems to be a push to whitewash the teaching of US history. To only teach about the great moments but not the events/moments that had us acting at our lowest as a nation. Teaching history is NOT meant to make you feel guilty or proud, it is meant to give you the full story.
Our government teachers require students to attend some type of gov.'t meeting so students can get hands-on learning of what an engaged citizen looks like & also how they can get problems addressed. Always a good sight when we see them representing.
As a department, Julie always took the best care of us & our section of the building. We will miss not having her here in the years to come to provide that extra care and also just having those friendly end-of-the-day conversations. Enjoy retirement, Julie! @Whitmer_HS@WLS4Kids
