@Telegraph Yes! Because up till now the views of the poor and lower class have been easily ignored when they say they don't want immigrantion.Just called rasis etc. Put the immigrants in middle class areas an the whole thing might actually be stopped!
@thetimes@KemiBadenoch is doing a great job dealing with the patronising Starmer, but jettisoning Jenrick and stopping the disaster of @grantshapps from worming his way back, it 100% the right course. Either of those 2 would be blockers from her getting my vote next time,so great moves!
@spectator@KemiBadenoch has done a great job over the last few years dealing with the patronising Starmer, but the best thing she has done, so far, is stopping the rot from seeping back in and stopping @grantshapps from worming his way back in to redoing the disasters he did last time.
Scotland raised its top income tax rate to 48% to make the rich pay more.
New HMRC data suggests the result may have been the opposite: Scotland collected about ยฃ22m less.
We can't be sure, but Scotland may have fallen over the Laffer curve.

If Gary wanted to pay more tax he could simply have handed over the ยฃ4.9 million that HMRC thought they were owed.
Instead he fought a protracted legal battle to keep it. #Hypocrite#GiveUsTheMoneyGary
@DanNeidle@JOHNNYS4CK Cloth napkins ๐ค I jest but that is the main issue with writing down tax law I suppose, I bet 99.9% of the UK population would be insanely able to agree on ever pub/restaurant on whick it is, but it's all unquantifiable intangibles.
@Peston Why keep saying war bonds are the same as Gilts? Think premium bonds, why do so many individuals have the compared to gilts? If the gov offered a war bond that was inflation linked with zero interest, but was IHT exempt, I belive you would get a huge inflow fro wealthy pensioners
@spectator #NSFW# Yes, but I'd still prefer to accidentally have a small piss in my pants, rather than spitefuly shit in them and have to walk around with spiteful shit dribbling down my legs for the rest of the day... so in synonyms a good call ๐คฃ
@DanNeidle Can't we peg the minimum wage and the lower tax rate and the state pension, to some level adjusted to the mean wage? Bloody hard sell, but would sort alot of tinkering by future govs if locked in?
