On a Monday night in 2006, Falcons-Saints was more than just a football game.
It was an emphatic message that the people of New Orleans would endure and rebuild after Katrina.
20 years later at the Dome, there’s still no place like home.
20 years later, the return to the Superdome remains one of the most surreal moments.
@MichelleBeisner detailed the story of the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and the role the Saints played in its aftermath.
There aren’t many youth football players anywhere in America getting coached by a guy who once stood in the middle of the Penn State defense.
Long Island Elite Co-Founder @GeraldFilardi47 was one of the great linebackers to come out of Long Island, became a starter at @PennStateFball led the Nittany Lions in tackles in consecutive seasons and was part of two BCS Bowl National Championship teams under legendary Head Coach Joe Paterno before signing with the @steelers
More than 30 years later, he’s still on a football field teaching linebackers, correcting technique and passing along what he learned at the highest levels of the game.
That has always mattered at Long Island Elite. Our young players should be surrounded by people who have actually been where they’re trying to go.
Leadership matters. Experience matters. Who teaches your son matters.

I asked Dan Hurley the same question I asked Tom Izzo: why does the media have a problem with coaches coaching players hard?
Hurley: "Society has gotten soft in a lot of ways... The real world is tough and cruel... I'm preparing my players for life."
I've actually seen a decent amount of people criticize this. What?? Rick Pitino treats certain wins like losses and takes a player's failure to do their individual job--even on the most micro level--incredibly personal.
Part of the reason he is who he is. This is awesome and should be lauded.
I wish I was good enough at a sport as a young athlete (spoiler: wasn't) to have a coach invest that much in me.
Phenomenal stuff right here!
