The racial wealth gap is huge! It cannot be adequately closed without a reparations cash payment component. We plan on making the case in our upcoming podcast.
Did you know about Victory Gardens? We talked to @misstwink about reparations, the history of urban farming, and what 40 Acres+ A Mule would look like in 2021. Listen here: https://t.co/RmQOnmYWdY #reparations#wealthgap#Purereparations#urbanfarming
@KerwinWilliams1@BlackAlphaNetw1 And yes, you are settling for table scraps because you haven't done enough homework on the economic condition of Black ppl/data to understand that reparations is critical. You are satisfied with what has been offered so far.
@KerwinWilliams1@BlackAlphaNetw1 I would consider a consistently growing podcast user base a success, along with the issue of reparations continuing to gain steam. Did you think this was going to be easy, or the Feds will just easily grant us reparations? This could take 20,30, or 40 more years.
@KerwinWilliams1@BlackAlphaNetw1 Well I run this podcast, which has a specific focus on growing the # of ppl who support reparations. I also drafted Black agenda policy docs for a few candidates on direct payment measures that can be implemented on the local level.
@KerwinWilliams1@BlackAlphaNetw1 None of these things specifically address the $11-$14 trillion racial wealth gap. Stop being cool with table scraps yo! You(we) deserve much more than that.
@BlackAlphaNetw1@chrisorganizsac You are speaking truth! We will keep pressing for debts owed to be paid though. If Democrats dont get it together then they are toast in the 2022 midterms+ 2024 election.
Are you curious about the present day monetary value of free slave labor? Professor Craemer broke it down on Episode 7. Listen here: https://t.co/crzPTHV2yd #reparations#wealthgap#equity#purereparations
In our latest episode we were lucky enough to interview Professor Thomas Craemer. He broke down the positive impact reparations had on German society, and his support of reparations for #ADOS. Check it out here: https://t.co/crzPTHV2yd #Reparations#WealthGap
@Krissonzo @lweber@SteveChapman13@CityofEvanston Hopefully you can check out Episode 6 of our pod. We were lucky enough to interview some of the Evanston residents pushing back on the current proposal. Here is the link: https://t.co/2UvpRijUfX
@Krissonzo @lweber@SteveChapman13@CityofEvanston That is flawed, as there are quite a few Black Evanston residents who descended from slaves/had ancestors who were redlined in other cities who just so happened to not have been born/raised in Evanston.
@Krissonzo @lweber@SteveChapman13@CityofEvanston Reparations involves slavery and everything you just discussed. The issue is program implementation. The Evanston bill only assists Black residents who can trace their lineage to Evanston during peak redlining/racial covenant yrs( a total of only 16 people).
@lweber@SteveChapman13@CityofEvanston This should have been branded an African American Improvement program or something. This in no way is reparations. Folk keep avoiding the question about why Japanese Americans received hard cash but the only proposals made to Black Americans are "programs" not cash. Pure BS.
@lweber@SteveChapman13@CityofEvanston It's not a good start. A housing program that only helps a total of 16 Black Evanston residents is not a good start at all. In fact its embarrassing, a disgrace, and not reparations at all. Reparations must involve direct cash payments, period!!
@timjacobwise Say it again. That, and that farm relief is not reparations. Reparations must include a cash payment component, period. Programs alone won't cut it.
