One of the most legendary "wrong deck" landings of 1952 involved a U.S. Navy McDonnell F2H-2 Banshee from Fighter Squadron 62 (VF-62).
The pilot, running low on fuel, mistakenly landed on the USS Wasp (CV-18) instead of his assigned ship, the USS Coral Sea (CVB-43).
Because landing on the wrong vessel was a serious navigational faux pas, the "host" crew would subject the misdirected aircraft to classic naval hazing, covering the jet in humorous, mocking graffiti.

I recognize one of these! I will always be fascinated by the public architecture of old. It had style and character. Gas stations and diners had more style than our "luxury" structures these days!
