A study of Qiang Huang’s portrait, done in @Procreate
I was still figuring out how to work with digital art (still am) and it’s not often that I like my work, but this pleasantly surprised me.

genuinely where the fuck are we supposed to go now
twitter fucking sucks
facebook fucking sucks
bluesky fucking sucks
deviantart fucking sucks
artstation fucking sucks
instagram fucking sucks
every public-facing corner of the internet is a nest of bots, thieves, and scammers just waiting to mangle your work, disregard copyright law and personal property and we're supposed to just spread our cheeks every fucking day and take it
are we supposed to just sit in discord servers with other artists all day? how the fuck are we supposed to make a living like this?
like genuinely what the fuck are we supposed to do to prevent our work getting publicly gangraped by some group of gangly soylent goblins in silicon valley every single fucking day?
Shueisha, Japan’s largest publisher and home of Shonen Jump hits like One Piece, Dragon Ball, and Demon Slayer, has issued an official statement threatening OpenAI.
"This autumn, with the release of OpenAI’s new generative AI service Sora2, a large number of videos resembling famous works have appeared online."
"However, such progress cannot be tolerated if it is built upon acts that harm the dignity of authors who have devoted themselves to their creations and violate the rights of many individuals."
first test of the vector side of affinity. fantastic interface and controls so far. not much of a learning curve for those worried about learning a new software.
Creatives’ fightback against AI exploiting their work has gained massive momentum recently:
- Australian government ruled out introducing a copyright exception for AI training
- Udio/Universal lawsuit settlement will see Udio cease to exist in its current form
- Anthropic settlement gets $1.5B to rights holders; other settlements are expected to follow
- When Anthropic fair use decision went AI companies’ way, judge in Meta case strongly disagreed the next day and said many instances of training will not be fair use
- Sora launch led to vocal criticism from Japanese rights holders and others, and swift climbdown from OpenAI
AI boosters want you to ‘adapt or die’, but creatives are gaining huge amounts of ground - backed up by an overwhelming majority of the public.
Keep fighting 🙌
I'm not kidding when I say that this Over the Garden Wall reanimated project is one of the best I've ever seen. I'm blown away by our team, I can't wait for everyone to see the finished project!
I was scared of AI replacing me so I decided to make a bold drawing one last time and it turned into the most discussed and popular series of works I ever made. Your human honesty will always strike harder than your artificial technique
I can't bring myself to represent war with a cool knight. It's horror. War is a bound child crowned with shrapnel, tied to a wounded horse that is being pulled forward by unseen people
“The humanities are useless” is propaganda, designed to discourage young people from pursuing careers in literature and the arts because those careers are vital to a flourishing society. We’re reaping the results with a public that is compliant and ill-informed, as was intended.
Darwin never said ‘fittest’ meant the strongest or most violent. It means best adapted to circumstances, which often means collaborating, forming networks, sharing resources. Capitalism hijacked the language to justify exploitation.
