If you worry about how much you spend, you probably aren't making enough.

If you are concerned about where you spend it? You are probably making too much.

If you are worried about when or if to spend it. You probably have a wife and kids.

Money grows over time if you make the right decisions, but spending never stops until you are dead.

@cchukudebelu They need to state that LOR acronym in full. I foresee them changing its meaning to something else when this becomes a full blown legal case.

Saw this on one of my Whatsapp groups.

EKEDC IN DESPERATION
_____
I installed an 18kW solar power system at my property in Lekki Phase 1, relegating EKEDC supply to a backup status. Since then, I have been having more frequent visits from personnel of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), coming to check my prepaid meter.

On one of those visits, the EKEDC team stood watching the meter for motion to indicate consumption. When the meter wasn't moving, they called me to say they suspected I had bypassed the meter. I told them I had enough solar power for my daytime needs and only used their supply as a backup for the dark hours. To prove this to them, I switched on my inverter bypass for about 2 minutes so my consumption would be from EKEDC. They saw the meter rotating normally. They were visibly upset and one of them mumbled something like "This ọ̀gá no wan gree us chop". They left.

Today (19-Oct-2026), three of them came to my premises with a notice of disconnection. The last time I loaded an EKEDC token was in July 2026 and I still had ample units left. When I asked why they would disconnect me, they said the reason was "LOR" (Loss of Revenue). They said my slow consumption indicates a faulty meter and I had to pay them ₦112,606 for loss of revenue.

I told them my meter was not faulty and that they could test it if they wanted. The lady said they were losing revenue and they had to make up for it.

I didn't know whether to laugh or to be angry. I have no intention of paying EKEDC a dime for its loss of revenue due to my taking steps to protect my interest.

But, I share this story for all who are investing in solar power to know that the DisCos are now desperate. They now have "Loss of Revenue" as a reason for your disconnection from their supply. It is simply that they are not making enough money from you.

I am waiting for EKEDC to disconnect me from their grid before I lodge a formal complaint to the regulatory authority.

We are in interesting times in Nigeria!

U.S. demand for Nigerian cocoa is booming. Cocoa bean exports to the United States jumped from $21.7 million in 2024 to $142 million in 2025.

Trade runs both ways. Wheat makes up 67% of U.S. agricultural exports to Nigeria, helping meet local demand for an important staple.

Fair, two-way trade that works for farmers, businesses, and families on both sides of the Atlantic.

There’s no part of my post where I blamed the driver for what happened. I’m simply highlighting a safety precaution that everyone should take. An accident affects everyone involved, regardless of who is right or wrong. At the end of the day the goal is to get home safely.

Honestly, right of way means very little when it comes to road safety, especially in this part of the world. There’s a popular local saying that, as a driver, you should always assume that every other road user is not mentally roadworthy. 😂

As funny as it sounds, this mindset has helped me anticipate other road users’ actions and avoid several potentially dangerous situations. Sometimes, being right on the road isn’t as important as being safe. It’s better to yield and arrive safely than to insist on your right of way and end up in an accident.

Quit your job, then see how many coworkers still check in.

Zero.

You don’t have coworker friends. You have friendly coworkers. Learn the difference.

In some families, everyone sells what they have to support one person. Even the siblings' education are sacrificed. Those siblings would go look for any type of work to do - even the work that comes with humiliation, - and still send you money to support you.

If people are crying about black tax, you better keep quiet. You're a product of black tax yourself. Always know the family you come from. Don't let privileged people tell you about black tax.

People will tell you that "everybody will be alright even if you don't help." Na lie ooo. You would not have been alright if they didn't sacrifice for you. Ensure the people that looked after you are well looked after. Ensure your family can feed.

Some of you blew up as superstars in whatever field you delved into. You're the light in your family. Accept your reality. Money eaten alone is not sweet.
