Screenwriter & Director | In Development: Inspiration (short), Sinking the Great Bear | Former Engineer applying structural precision to the frame. ๐๏ธ๐ฅ
When I graduated high school, I had 2 paths in mind: writing or engineering.
I chose engineering. It was the practical choice. It built a good career.
Now, Iโm returning to the other path.
Iโve started writing screenplays โ 1st as a hobby, and possibly as a 2nd career.
In a sub, overshooting a turn into Norfolk requires a correction. Chasing O'Kane? That correction feels like failure.
โ"The Long Shadow of Legend" is a study of commandโrealizing legends were just men with limited data. ๐ (2/2)
My next project, "The Long Shadow of Legend", isn't about combat. It's about the weight of expectation.
โIt follows a young officer on a Virginia-class sub struggling with a universal question: How do you live up to a standard that feels impossible? โ๏ธ๐ฅ ๐งต (1/2)
This isn't just a teaserโit's a timing test. By mapping every beat to the score now, Iโm validating the narrative pacing before production begins.
"Inspiration" is being built from the blueprint up. โ๏ธโ๏ธ
Phase II of the 'Inspiration' scaffold. Transitioning from the rhythm of the script to the rhythm of the frame. ๐ฅ๐ #Screenwriting#Filmmaking#IndieFilm
The destination is the vision; the path is the structure. Once the foundation is poured, Page 1 isn't a voidโit's the start of the assembly.

Page 1. Often the hardest page to write.
You start off completely blank. No structure, no starting point, no foundation, nothing to build on. How do you take that first step?
For me, the "blank page" is an engineering problem. You don't build a house by staring at the dirt; you look at the survey and the blueprints.
โBefore a single word was written for Inspiration, the music and the load-bearing emotional beats were already mapped. ๐งต (1/2)
@ShoreScripts Well, my script did not advance. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed, but it wasn't unexpected nor my main goal.
My main goal was to get feedback, and I got good, actionable reader notes that I am using to "shore" up my script. Thank you for that, Shore Scripts!
@QTarantino_ Oof. I, then, have grossly overwritten mine. Several AIs, when fed the script and asked to come up with a detailed budget estimate, were in the $250k range. One described it as more of a mini-feature than a short. (And, no, it's not VFX heavy)
Maybe I dream too big?
@PAGEawards Wow, I wish I had that kind of on-the-spot wit!
Could another possible answer have been: "There was this one I had in 2003 that was just the right plumpness, juicy, and sweet! Most delicious date I ever had!"?
This project represents the first major peak in this new career path. Building the structural foundation for the dozens of stories yet to come.

In a submarine, command isn't just a rankโit's a shared destiny. When the final torpedo circles back, the tolerances for error vanish.
