I say no. If you take away his 5 peak years where he is arguably the best player in baseball, he has 13 replacement level seasons. He’s one of the guys who is a lot better in memory than he was in real time.
The problem you have is Vizquel, Smith and Aparicio had long careers so that they played past their peak at SS and lost points. A better comparison would be Simmons vs the others peak DWAR years.
@uscfan981 Wells was the best inning eater of his generation. The ability to take the ball throw 150 pitches every fifth day in the steroid era saved the rest of the staff fatigue on teams that played late into October. Not overrated.
