🚨🗣 Vozinha on Lionel Messi:
"When I am an old man, I will tell my Grandchildren bedtime stories about how their Grandfather played against the greatest player of all time" 🇦🇷🇨🇻
In their first-ever World Cup, Cape Verde played against:
Argentina (FIFA #1)
Spain (FIFA #2)
Uruguay (FIFA #16)
Saudi Arabia (FIFA #61)
They didn’t lose to any of them within 90 minutes. The smallest nation to ever make the World Cup knockouts. Thank you Cape Verde 🇨🇻
@NealGardner_ He even grew into the game, he began to dribble through players and draw fouls. He hasn’t really had to dribble as much and has done his work off the ball but late in the game he was able to get on the ball more and it was great to see!
🚨 Lionel Messi: “We already knew this was going to be a very difficult match. It wasn’t a coincidence that this team didn’t lose to Spain or Uruguay”.
“These are knockout matches, nobody gives you anything for free”.
One of the greatest games in WC history. Cape Verde is easily the team of tournament and one of the greatest stories ever! The smallest nation to ever qualify for a World Cup, unbeaten in the group stage, and went toe to toe with the defending champs. Can’t praise them enough!👏
Thank gawddd Messi and the boys pulled it out tho🤣🔥A test like that will do them well going forward!
I don’t think have the words in my vocabulary to explain what Cape Verde produced not just tonight, but throughout the World Cup.
Folks were laughing at Spain for that draw, but in hindsight, it might’ve been their most impressive result of the entire bloody tournament 😭
I don’t think we’re fully comprehending how utterly bonkers this World Cup has been.
48 teams, yet it feels more competitive than ever. Every day brings a new shock. It’s mind-boggling.
