Lets all try this and see if it will work:

1. Turn on Data Saver / Low Data Mode (biggest single fix, 30 seconds)
Android: Settings → Network & Internet → Data Saver → toggle ON
iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data Options → toggle "Low Data Mode" ON
This one setting throttles background data and autoplay system-wide immediately.
2. Kill WhatsApp auto-download (2 minutes)
Open WhatsApp → Settings (or tap your profile pic) → Storage and Data → Media Auto-Download → under "Mobile data," uncheck Photos, Videos, and Audio. Leave Wi-Fi checked if you want.
3. Stop autoplay on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok (3 minutes)
Facebook app: Menu → Settings & Privacy → Settings → Media → Autoplay → set to "Never Autoplay Videos"
Instagram: Settings → Account → Cellular Data Use → toggle ON "Use Less Data"
TikTok: Profile → Menu (☰) → Settings and Privacy → Data Saver → toggle ON
4. Force app updates to Wi-Fi only (1 minute)
Play Store: Tap your profile icon → Settings → Network preferences → Auto-update apps → "Over Wi-Fi only"
iPhone App Store: Settings → App Store → under Cellular Data, toggle OFF "App Updates" and "App Downloads"
5. Cap YouTube/streaming quality (1 minute)
YouTube app: Profile icon → Settings → Video quality preferences → set Mobile network to "Data saver" or manually cap at 480p
Netflix: Profile → App Settings → Video Playback → set to "Save Data" or "Low"
6. Check who's on your hotspot right now
Settings → Hotspot & Tethering → see connected devices list. Kick off anything you don't recognize and change your hotspot password.
Do all six and check your MTN balance tomorrow at the same time of day (*138#) — you should see a noticeably slower drain within 24 hours since autoplay + auto-download are usually the two biggest offenders.
