From THE GAMBLER: In the end, what mattered most to the self-made billionaire was neither his successes nor his disappointments, but the thrill of the risk. As he saw it:
"Life is a big craps game."
@DanRose999 Kirk Kerkorian’s biography in The Gambler by @WilliamRempel is a must read also. His competition w Howard Hughes is much like the Musk/Bezos space race of today.
The Gambler by @WilliamRempel this book about Kirk Kerkorian is highly recommended reading if you like business books and tales of entrepreneurs. Did I say highly?
@WilliamRempel thank you for The Gambler. As an Armenian, he's always been an inspiration to me and others. What an amazing life story and you brought it to life, again. Great work, sir. #KirkKerkorian
What good was a big dream if, when the winds were right, he was too timid to chase it?”
@WilliamRempel on #TedTurner from his phenomenal book #TheGambler 📚
@josephmenn I, for one, am counting on you to remain a journalistic pain in the butt to the comfortable, the powerful, and the corrupt (and assorted editors, as required).
“Reflecting on what mattered most in his life… It was neither his successes or his disappointments. It was the thrill of the risk.” — “Life is a big craps game. I’ve got to tell you, it’s all been fun.” #KirkKerkorian@WilliamRempel from his wonderful book #TheGambler
@davidfrum@TheAtlantic So many ways that history almost played out differently. Here's a story from the L.A. Times I wrote 22 years ago and two years BEFORE 9/11. You may find it particularly interesting from this distance. https://t.co/BJyay9aga6
@WilliamRempel As a licensed pilot myself having never read a bio before but enthralled with books and audio books, I started reading this and I just hit page 100 and Kirk is out of this world amazing. I'd almost swear the book was fiction. This guy did it all and met everyone. Get this book!
@Nick_Keesee Just finished the gambler about Kirk Kerkorian by @WilliamRempel (great book!) and am even more convinced of this. Airlines, Vegas, Movie Studios. Unreal.
FBI Director Chris Wray, nearly four months after the election and nearly two months after the Capitol insurrection: “We are not aware of any widespread evidence of voter fraud, much less that would have effected the outcome in the presidential election.”
@ladytin2x@ManoukAkopyan@ShantSahakian@ArmenianAMuseum@latimes I’m so glad you enjoyed The Gambler, and I understand your powerful feelings about the genocide. I can only hope that my vivid description of genocide images cited in very next paragraph earned me some measure of pardon. Thanks very much for reading and caring so much.
@ladytin2x@ManoukAkopyan@ShantSahakian@ArmenianAMuseum@latimes Hi Tina, Chapter 36 is titled “Genocide and Generosity” and there are 12 other specific references to the Armenian genocide throughout the book. It was very important subject to Mr. Kerkorian.
