In my area of Surrey it is the LibDems who are most likely to replace Conservative MPs. I ask three of them to explain their concerns and how they will make things better for their respective constituencies:

1⃣ Al Pinkerton, "In Camberly and Surrey Heath, local business owners are very badly affected by Brexit.. Some business owners admit to voting for Brexit in 2016 and are now regreting the decision because its so much more expensive to import, and more diffifult to export"

"People feel badly let down by the prospectus that was sold to them in 2016.. Whichever way you cut it, the Tories have failed these people"

"For some it was the PPE scandals, for others it was Downing Street Parties.. This sense of politics is broken.. Corruption in Downing street and Westminster.. I would like to bring back trust, authority, and transparency"

2⃣ Will Forster, "I don't think anything is working any more. The Conservatives have basically bankrupted our council and I want to fix that. I want to ensure there is fairer council funding so Woking and other councils dont go bankrupt again. We need support from the government because we've got so much debt"

"The cost of living crisis has had a huge impact on people.. Rent and mortgages have gone sky high after Liz Truss's disastrous budget.. We want to make sure the economy works for local people and give people support for their bills, particularly their housing costs"

3⃣ Zöe Franklin, "One of the things that comes up all of the time are the problems with Thames Water, whether it's the sewage that is flowing into the beautiful River Wey, or the problems of getting water into people's homes. For example, there were areas in Guildford last year that went without water for 11 days"

"We want to get rid of failing Ofwat, replace it with a regulator with teeth.. Make sure water bosses can't take bonuses if they can't get their job right.. And we are going to tax their profits so they clean up our rivers and stop the sewage that is flowing into our precious rivers"

Local voices are often lost on national TV and in the papers, but the underlying conerns expressed across the country relate to the failures of the Conservative party who won a 'super majority' in 2019. Whether it's the sewage in our rivers and seas, the partying in Downing street while imposing restrictions on the rest of us, the corruption of PPE contracts, the abandoning of 24% of the working British population who are self employed by denying them furlough, whether it's bonkers schemes that have seen councils go bankrupt, or economic policies so disastrous that the tanked the economy and raises people's rents and mortgages.

We've got to do better than another five years of the Conservative party. Find your local MPs and give them your support 🙏

Hi @AJRichardsonMP in answer to your question until 26th Aug dumping sewage into rivers was illegal "outside of exceptional situations".

Gov has now legalised sewage dumping for at least the next 28 years so long as water companies can argue they are doing something .... (1/2)
