What's cool about looking back at the history of college protests is that 19 year old students have been right about every single American war, and the esteemed Harvard educated opinion writers at the New York Times have been wrong about every single American war.
we are supposed to believe that the young people working to end mass slaughter are the threat and that the riot squads sent in to brutalize them are the peacekeepers
Student protesters were right about segregation in the early '60s, right about Vietnam in the late '60s, right about apartheid in the '80s, right about Iraq in 2003, and right about wealth inequality in 2011. Seems generally bad to side against student movements.
If you aren’t putting together that every protest movement in our country gets met with hyper militarized police force except white supremacists it’s easy to miss your rights being swept away as well
Columbia’s own website has a page about how the last time they called for a mass arrest of student protesters, they were in the wrong and fucked up their reputation for decades
TO BE CLEAR, COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY HAS CALLED THE COPS ONTO ITS OWN STUDENTS FOR THE SECOND TIME IN TWO WEEKS, ON THE 56TH ANNIVERSARY OF WHEN THEY LAST CALLED THE POLICE ONTO CAMPUS TO ARREST OVER 700 PROTESTING THE VIETNAM WAR & HARLEM GENTRIFICATION ON APRIL 30TH, 1968
We need to understand, urgently, that we either divest from imperialism or we get fascism. The ruling class is eagerly ushering in fascism at home to defend their fascism abroad. And we have to reject all of it, right now.
we have to understand that 30,000 dead must be a huge, huge undercount at this point & that the Israeli state has targeted Gaza's civil administration, health care workers, and journalists with the intent to obscure the scale of its crimes.
In a real country all Boeings would be grounded and the executives would be jailed. Here they are major party donors so nothing will happen and eventually plane crashes will be a thing that starts to be common again.
cannot be overstated just how terrified the ruling class is of the fact that young people can bypass their carefully manufactured propaganda. if they can’t reproduce that indoctrination in every generation, the whole thing will fall apart, which is already happening
I would say I can’t believe we’re repeating the 90s crime bill wave, but I can 100% believe it considering the man who wrote that bill is now President and his VP called herself California’s top cop. We’ve regressed as a country thanks to Republicans and Democrats.
They're building a generation of consumers who have no ideas of their own, no critical thought, no creativity, no love of learning, no craft, and no patience. Magikarp era with no evolution path.
