What a RUSH! I still can’t believe I presented my research during the #ACG2023 presidential plenary session about the impact of the food environment on #EOCRC mortality! I couldn’t have done this without the BRILLIANT mentorship of @PriyaVijayMD! So grateful to @AmCollegeGastro!
@DCharabaty@PriyaVijayMD … even when accounting for race, socioeconomic factors, rural-urban location, and known CRC risk factors. In our geographical analysis, when we examined hotspots of EOCRC mortality we found areas in the south east and south west associated with an unhealthy food environment!
@DCharabaty@PriyaVijayMD Thank you so much!! It was a national cross sectional study and limited to associations, but in our final multilinear regression model we presented at ACG, we identified vegetables and fruit (protective) and packaged sweet snacks and candy (risk factor) as modifiable factors…
W/ 45-49yo’s added to #coloncancer screening pool, we need to continue work on removing barriers to getting screened! The best test is the test the patient gets done!
