An earthquake has struck in Georgia:

A magnitude 2.4 earthquake hit near Resaca in Gordon County this morning. This is about 9 miles from Calhoun, and 70 miles from Atlanta. This is a weak earthquake that wouldn't have caused any damage.

Severe storm threat later today into the night. The storms that move in will be strong and bring the threat for damaging wind gusts 60+ mph.

We've seen this a lot recently and it's pretty typical of summer. I'll be watching for winds that can bring down trees and power lines.

Drier air has moved in behind a cold front. Temperatures are hot, but the humidity is lower than it has been. The dangerous heat is all around us, but not here.

100° today is the hottest temperature ever recorded in Miami, reached only once before since records began in 1895. The other time Miami hit 100° was July 21, 1942. Their proximity to water and the cooler ocean breezes almost always keeps their highs in the 90s in the summer.
