🇬🇧RULE, BRITANNIA! The £7.9 billion Type 26 programme supports more than 4,000 British shipbuilding jobs at BAE Systems' Glasgow shipyards and across the wider UK supply chain.

Over 120 British suppliers have been contracted for the programme, with BAE Systems committing to invest £1.2 billion in UK manufacturing through sub-contracts.

Yesterday, the Princess of Wales officially named HMS Glasgow - the first of the Royal Navy’s next-generation Type 26 frigates. Built in the city she’s named after, The Princess of Wales ceremoniously smashed a bottle of whisky over the bow, honouring the frigate’s Scottish roots.

As recently reported, BAE Systems' new assembly hall is nearing completion at its Govan shipyard as part of a wider £300 million investment programme.

The Janet Harvey Hall - named after one of the many women who took on industrial jobs when the country needed them most during the Second World War - will be large enough for two Type 26 frigates to be constructed side-by-side.
