Windmill

Open-source platform to turn minimal scripts into internal UIs and workflows.

A new AI step in Windmill returns a typed answer: a choice, a score, or a yes/no with a probability. Not a text blob you parse. Your next step branches on it with a regular Branch, so the flow routes on the model's decision.

A saved AI agent now has its own page in Windmill. Build one, deploy it, and anyone with access can open it and chat, no flow to wrap it in.

[Windmill @WindmillDev]

Most "agents" are better as a flow with a single AI step. That one step makes the judgment call. Every other step is a typed script with retries and approvals. Deterministic where you can be, AI only where you actually need it.

Four git sync capabilities move from Enterprise to Pro in Windmill: automatic pull from git, promotion mode, pull requests opened on deploy, and GitLab token renewal.

Git-native deploys reach more teams.

GitLab repos now get the full git sync treatment in Windmill.

Push and changes pull in instantly over a webhook. Deploy from a workspace and Windmill opens the merge request, with a diff note right on it. Tokens renew themselves.

An HTTP route in Windmill can now name the browser origins allowed to call it.

The allowlist runs on both the preflight and the response, so a blocked origin never reaches your script and it can't read the result either.

[Windmill @WindmillDev]

Windmill tests now run as a CI check on your GitHub pull requests. A failing test blocks the merge, so a broken workflow never reaches production.

Write an AI skill once and everyone in the workspace can run it. Each skill lives as an ai_skill resource: instructions and tools in one place. It shows up as a slash command in AI sessions, so you type / and pick it.

A pricing change: people outside your workspace can now use a Windmill app without taking a seat.

They sign in with your identity provider and reach that one app, with no Windmill account. The first 100 over 30 days are free.

Resource values now keep a history. See what changed, and go back to any earlier value in one click.

Every change is recorded, whoever made it and wherever it came from.

A cron job can finish green and have written nothing. The run says success, the table is empty.

In Windmill a step can mark itself failed even when the code ran without error: return wm_failure and your error handler fires.

[Windmill @WindmillDev]

Every AI session and chat in Windmill now shows what it cost. Estimates are marked ~, and OpenRouter figures are shown as billed. Admin and user panels roll it up by day, user or model, over 7, 30 or 90 days.

Point an eval at your AI agent and get a number back. AI agent evals (beta): a dataset of cases, each run scored 0 to 1 by an AI judge or a script, and a table comparing two runs cell by cell. Test a deployed agent, a pinned version, or unsaved edits.

The most sophisticated way to run dbt is also the slowest and the most fragile.

We wrote up what dbt is architecturally and the five ways people run it in production.

First of five on data pipelines.

AI Session artifacts now keep a version history. Every edit saves as a labelled version with a change note the AI writes, opened from a picker in the viewer header. Ask the AI to restore old wording and it reads the saved version instead of rewriting.

[Windmill @WindmillDev]

Copy your dbt project into a `<script>__dbt/` folder, run `wmill sync push`, and it runs on Windmill.

dbt build executes on your own workers with live per-model progress and per-model results. Hit dbt retry straight from the run page.

Define an AI agent step once, reuse it across your flows. Model, system prompt and tools live in one resource. Edit it and the change propagates to every linked flow. When one flow needs a variant, unlink to fork a one-off. Shipped in v1.774.0.

Our support runs on Windmill. Slack, Discord, email and GitHub issues land in one queue. Claude pulls the context and drafts the reply, a human presses send.

In parallel it drafts the fix: an assigned Linear issue, picked up by a coding agent.

BigQuery and Snowflake now run on community Windmill.

Both are selectable in the script editor, the flow step picker and the app inline script picker on every edition. The executors ship in the standard community builds. No Enterprise license needed.

Windmill's MCP server is now in Anthropic's official Claude connector directory. One-click install.

Claude can create a script, run a flow, read a failing job's logs, query the docs. It operates your workspace, it doesn't just describe it.
