From Martin Forde KC to the Guardian letters editors yesterday who have not yet published it.
Dear Sir,
I have watched with horror the race to the bottom on migration engaged upon by Reform the Conservatives and the Labour Party. The recent comments of Katie Lam reported in the Sunday Times about the need to deport settled families and legal migrants to achieve cultural coherence appears to me to be a thinly disguised "keep Britain white" campaign. Does that include my family? My parents were invited here by the British government in the 1950's. We actively recruit foreign nationals to operate within the NHS and Care sectors without whom both would be on their knees. Under legislation introduced by Priti Patel, not only I but my children can be deported and stripped of citizenship as we are all entitled, via our heritage to passports from counties we have never resided in. This despite the fact that my family have paid nearly 165 years worth of tax ( in the case of myself and my two children of working age at the highest rates) to this country and never received a day of state benefits other than child benefit. Which "home" should I go to as apparently it is not their fault that my parents came here feeling fully British and part of the Empire. Are they among those "who came here (but) they just shouldn't have been able to do so". No doubt I will wait in vain for any condemnation from her Party leader, herself of migrant heritage as, ironically is Katie Lam, apparently a "rising star tipped to be future Leader". I despair.
Yours faithfully,
Martin Forde KC

Hurricane Melissa has caused 7 deaths in the Caribbean & is now a Category 5 storm set to make landfall in Jamaica where it could cause catastrophic damage.
A Caribbean Hurricane Fund has now been launched to raise funds for affected islands. 🇯🇲🇭🇹🇩🇴
