🇬🇧 FREE PUBLIC OPEN DAY at the Windsor Guildhall and Museum on Wednesday 9 April to commemorate the 20th wedding anniversary of Their Majesties the King and Queen.

💍 If you’re thinking about getting married at the Guildhall, the Guildhall event team and Royal Borough registrar team will also be available from 12-2pm to offer advice and guidance to anyone considering hosting their ceremony at the Guildhall.

Good luck to all those who are running on Saturday, and supporting the Original Marathon’s charity partner, @AspireCharity who are a national charity that provide practical help to people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury.

The original marathon will return to Windsor on Saturday! @eventswerun Participants will run along the historic 26.2 mile route from Windsor Castle to White City, first ran in 1908 for the London Olympics.

We are excited that a piece of Windsor’s history is being brought back to life, and in celebration, we have looked through our archives to find items related to the 1908 Olympic Marathon.

Judith added greatly to the understanding of our borough’s history through her many lectures and publications. She was a very inspiring lady and a key figure in the history of our musuem.

It was a pleasure to be visited yesterday by Rip Hunter, husband of our late Honorary Curator and Curator, Dr Judith Hunter MBE.

Judith became involved with the museum in the 1970s and was passionate about preserving and sharing local history.

Later she curated an exhibition of our collection at 24 High Street, Windsor, which opened in 1996 and was called ‘Town and Crown’.

She was awarded an MBE in 2004 for her services to museums.
