Shoutout to our science students of the half term! π Fantastic progress and a real sense of curiosity shining through in every lesson. Keep up the great work - so proud of you all! @1Penydre
Year 10 had a fantastic experience with USW this week! They had the chance to practise CPR, take blood pressure readings, and try suturing, among other activities. A big thank you to Mr Cullen and Luke for organising such a great opportunity! @1Penydre
Year 8 always thoroughly look forward to their art/science collaboration lesson! The salt dough animal and plant cells are looking amazing. Great work! @1Penydre@PYD_ARTofficial
Mr Price has been teaching year 8 how to make salt crystals. Here we can see them reacting copper oxide and sulfuric acid. Then filtering the excess ready to evaporate the solution. Da iawn. @1Penydre
Year 8 have been learning about cells. They have recently used the microscopes and so now are making model plant and animal cells from salt dough. Another successful art/science collaboration. @1Penydre@PYD_ARTofficial
The year 8 topic for this half term is acids and alkalis. Miss Bull challenged her class to make their own indicator from red cabbage. Ardderchog! @1Penydre
Mr Evans has been teaching KS3 how to use a microscope. So far theyβve looked at their own cheek cells. Next itβs on to plant cells. Da iawn pawb. @1Penydre
Miss Hands, Mrs Richards, Miss Prosser and Mr Evans took some lucky year 9 students ice skating today. What a way to end the term! @1Penydre Merry Christmas from the science department! π
Hot chocolate, cream and marshmallows in cuppa curiosity today! The last one of the term. A massive thank you to Mr Evans and Miss Bull who helped out today! @1Penydre
Mr Evans has been teaching diffusion. Did you know the coloured sugar that is coating the skittles DISSOLVES in to the water and spreads out due to a process called DIFFUSION? @1Penydre
Miss Bull has been teaching year 7 about particle theory and energy transfer. Here they are applying their knowledge by investigating the cooling effect. Ardderchog! @1Penydre
