🌟 This #WomensDay, we’re celebrating Salma Tammam, Founder and CEO of https://t.co/uzavq9PnmH, part of #WiNFUND’s #Cohort2.
🚨 Salma completed her PhD in Nanomedicine at the University of Bonn, Germany, in 2016. She spent 15 years employing nanotechnology and biotechnology to develop improved therapeutics and diagnostics.
From 2014 to 2016, Salma Tammam served as the R&D manager for D-Kimia Diagnostics, a startup in Egypt focused on using gold nanoparticles to detect Hepatitis C. In 2016, she was appointed Professor at the German University in Cairo, having published more than 40 scientific publications with over 600 citations.
💖 Salma also led a National Consortium in 2020 and developed the Egyptian COVID-19 testing system. Motivated by the COVID-19 pandemic, she decided to put her research intro practical context and founded Reme-D, intending to increase access to quality, affordable diagnostics.
👉 Within two years, Reme-D has launched 30 testing systems for various diseases, including HIV and tuberculosis. Today, Reme-D enables the diagnosis of 50,000 patients every month in three different countries, bringing closer access to diagnostics for everyone.

It’s #WomensDay again, so say hello to Adeola Ayoola from Famasi Africa! After studying pharmacy, Adeola saw how hard it was for patients with chronic illnesses to access medications, so she created Famasi – a tech operating system that streamlines pharmacy operations and connects patients with medications. Famasi now operates in 42 cities, working with over 1,000 pharmacies across Nigeria, Uganda, and Rwanda. The platform helps pharmacies manage inventory and provides personalized care by using data to match patients with available medications.
💖Famasi was part of the first Women in Innovation Fund (#WiNFUND) cohort. WiNFUND was created by Reckitt and the Health Innovation Exchange (HIEx), in partnership with the Kofi Annan Foundation, to address two significant areas of inequality - 1 in 2 people, or half the world, lack access to essential healthcare, and less than 2% of venture capital funding globally goes to women despite evidence their ventures generate stronger returns.
🌟 Adeola’s vision is lighting the way, and Reckitt Catalyst is searching for more women like her! If you’re a female founder in Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Mexico, or Brazil with a scalable idea in health or WASH, step up!

As part of the launch of the @ThisIsReckitt Catalyst in cooperation with HIEx, Serena Williams announced an open call for applications during the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Williams brings her experience as an outstanding athlete, entrepreneur, and investor to mentor and support women founders as Reckitt’s first Entrepreneur-in-Residence.
HIEx is proud to partner with @ThisIsReckitt to launch the Reckitt Catalyst—a pioneering global initiative designed to scale up to 200 women-led health and hygiene start-ups and transform access to essential health and hygiene solutions for five million people.
“Female entrepreneurs are the fastest way to transform global health,” said Pradeep Kakkattil, CEO of HIEx. “They’re not waiting for solutions—they’re building them. What they need is capital, visibility, and the right networks to go faster and deliver greater impact. Investing in them isn’t just fair—it’s the smartest way to deliver impact at scale. Through this initiative, we’re doubling down on homegrown innovation, especially across Africa, and connecting women leaders to the resources they need to save lives.”
Rooted in a shared mission to bridge innovation and impact, Reckitt Catalyst is a five-year, £10 million commitment to accelerate women-founded ventures addressing local health and hygiene challenges across over 15 countries, including Nigeria, South Africa, Brazil, Indonesia, Pakistan, and the United States. The program will deliver funding, mentorship, and strategic support to women-led start-ups from Reckitt leaders, partners of Reckitt Catalyst – Yunus Social Innovation, Acumen America and Health Innovation Exchange (HIEx) and a community of successful female entrepreneurs. https://t.co/20R5G6Oblb
