Residents of Kangundo East Ward will no longer have to travel long distances to access maternal and ultrasound services. The new Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and Ultrasound Block that we have established at Kivaani Health Centre will provide quality antenatal, delivery, postnatal, child health, and ultrasound services closer to the people.

The facility will promote safe motherhood, enable early diagnosis through ultrasound services, and improve health outcomes for both mothers and children, ensuring residents can access quality healthcare closer to home.

Commissioned the Kivaani Health Centre Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and Ultrasound Block in Kangundo East Ward, a transformative investment that will improve access to quality maternal and child healthcare for over 9,000 residents.

The new facility will enhance safe deliveries, provide essential ultrasound services closer to the community, improve health outcomes for mothers and children, and offer a better working environment for healthcare workers.

My administration remains committed to strengthening healthcare across Machakos by investing in modern health infrastructure, equipping our facilities, ensuring a steady supply of essential medicines, and supporting our healthcare workforce to deliver quality, affordable and accessible services to every resident.1

Held a public engagement meeting with residents of Kangundo East Ward at Kivaani, where we had an open and productive discussion on the development priorities of the ward and the progress of projects my administration is implementing.

The views and ideas shared during the meeting will continue to guide our development agenda as we work together to deliver projects that respond to the needs and aspirations of the people.

To continue boosting aquaculture in Machakos County, we have stocked Kwa Nduu Dam in Kavilinguni Sub-location with 10,000 fish fingerlings, adding to the ones we had previously stocked, which are already supporting fishing activities and fish farming by residents.

Fish farming is emerging as a sustainable alternative for enhancing food security in Machakos County by increasing local food production, improving household nutrition, and diversifying livelihoods. Through this initiative, we are expanding fish production while creating additional income opportunities for families through fish sales.

This investment advances my vision of Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni by promoting sustainable agriculture, strengthening household resilience and improving the livelihoods of our people.

Concluded my development tour in Kangundo East Ward with a public engagement forum at Kwa Nduu, where I had the opportunity to interact with residents, listen to their views, and update them on the progress of development projects my administration is implementing across the ward.

My commitment remains to serve the people of Machakos by delivering development that responds to their needs and aspirations, guided by our vision of Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni.

The rehabilitated Kamanzi ABC Borehole in Iia-Itune Sub-Location, Kangundo East Ward, is restoring reliable access to clean water for local residents.

The project includes the rehabilitation of the borehole and the extension of a water reticulation system to 10 water distribution points, Kamanzi Primary School, Kamanzi Secondary School, and surrounding churches. Serving more than 1,400 households across Kamanzi, Sisyani, and Iia-Itune villages.

The project will improve public health and sanitation, support learning in schools, reduce the burden of fetching water, and provide families with a reliable supply of clean and safe water for their daily needs.
